I was down on the Southbank after work taking some pictures and enjoying the lovely evening. It's funny when you hear a sound you instantly know just doesn't belong there, like stray bird flapping its wings inside a building. The sound of a piston engined aeroplane is gorgeously distinctive anywhere, but at 500ft over central London, it's quite a thing. Even more sublime when the shape making it has those beautifully curved wings and slender fuselage.
This would have been around 7.30pm and it flew straight over Festival Hall, Embankment Bridge and then I pressume over Parliament.
Wonderfully random sight, I guess connected with Madge's birthday celebrations.
Also happens to make a truly glorious and evocative noise 🙂
