I thought it was pretty good though the accents were a bit dodgy - the actors should have watched some old BBC newsreels to get a better idea of the clipped upper class accent.
So did Lucan live and is he still hiding in some distant corner of the world? I don't think he'd have been able to cut himself off so completely from his aristocratic chums. The ITV suggestion that Aspinall had him shot and dumped in the Channel seems more likely to me.
