In a fortunate position where I've just ordered a brand new motor - been asked if I want the Diamondbrite option where they deep wax it or something like that... Is it worth the £399 or is a good quality wax, Auto Glym etc, a better (cheaper) option ??

No. it has no benefit over a normal good quality wax, plus that 399 is mainly labour.

Ford just accidentally included it for free when we ordered or new car at the weekend. I wasn't going to point it out to them.

Even if it's the best wax ever, for £400 will it matter two months later?

I Work in the trade and it is snake oil , save your money , it's more about sale commission than any benifit for your car

buy a kit of ebay and do it yourself - and save about £370 at the same time.
