I know there are a few residents of the SW on here, wondering if you could help me find accommodation for a weekend, 22nd April, for 14.

Bothy, posh bothy, weekend rental, glamping etc considered. I've already suggested the glampung bit at kipford.

I used to live in KBT but my knowledge is 20+years out of date.

All help gratefully received, not least of all by the stag.

Oh nearish amenities/pub as the original location was outside Kirkpatrick Durham.

Are you going biking while you're here? That would make a fairly sizeable difference to where we'd suggest, as there are loads of options to pick from, depending on location.

I think there's a bit of glamping at loch Ken - not far north of castle Douglas.

Biking not on itinerary, although I'll get some in on the return.

Local shorthand for Kirkcudbright, as in castle douglas is CD, Dalbeattie is D'batie, Dumfries is…….shithole 😉

Probably limits you to Mabie or Hoddam, both have their own pub. Hoddam has better facilities ie shower block etc.

Sandyhills, you cross the road and use the Barnsoul complex pub. Good food as well. Only 3 wigwams I think, need to get booking they are popular. Kipford is a short walk down to the Anchor or Mariner in the village.

There's also Barend, just along the coast from Dalbeattie, which is nice and has an onsite pub
