If you look closely, Devin is being carefully guided by Scott most of the time (see the constant prompts from Scott in the chat). This aligns with my general perception of GenAI models at the moment, which is that they are like working with a bright & knowledgeable intern who lacks real-world & contextual experience. Yes, they can be useful - but they absolutely should not be used without a human in the loop.

I'd add to that, an intern thats occasionally drunk, every now and again turning out total gibberish. Except with the intern you'll have a good idea when they might be turning up pissed, but with the robot it could be any time

A good dev, with the help of AI can probably produce useful outputs, but a bad dev with the help of AI can definitely dig themselves into a proper hole and then find themselves in a very embarrassing situation explaining themselves when someone asks a probing question or tries to get you to debug the mess you've built.
