You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Hello - as above. I need a desktop PC for a home studio. I am not an expert, but suspect something with 16GB RAM and an SSD of some description would be useful, though it doesn't need to have huge capacity. Processors I'm clueless on. Already have an audio interface and other gubbins, its just the PC that's needed.
Budget as close to 500 quid as I can get! Any recommendations for where might be best to look? Cheers
Dell Outlet - scratched or refurbed will get you a £700 PC for £500
What you using it for mate, do you need a monitor?
will be using for music production mainly, and no monitor required.
What do you need your £500 to include?
I've just ordered a new Audio PC (not arrived yet 😭)
I'm not really overly in the know with computers these days, but I didn't really feel like I was over specced put it that way! With a 24 inch curved monitor and some very nice Logitech peripherals including a c922 webcam I came in at just over £1200
My computer build was about £1000....i7 processor, 32gb ram, 500gb ssd and 1tb sata hardrives.
What sort of software are you going to be running? How extensive is your audio work going to be?
Edit: here's where I got mine from: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/pro-audio-computers/
there's not a lot doing on the dell outlet currently, but thanks for the recommendation.
i did spot this on the Lenovo Outlet - a Legion gaming desktop reduced from a grand to 600 quid - here. Any thoughts?
the 500 just needs to include the PC box tom. i have an existing studio setup, im just looking to replace the PC itself as my current one is tired and struggles a bit with Nektarine in particular.
yours sounds like a nice spec. i'm hoping i can get away with a bit less but don't really know. im not an expert either.
Main DAWs are Reaper and Bitwig. My projects in Reaper can sometimes get a bit unwieldy.
Unless you're running loads of soft synths and vst's then you'll probably be okay on lower specs
Although if you've got 30 audio tracks and want 4 plugins on each one when mixing the you might struggle.
Edit. Just had a play around with specs on the website that I posted and I can't get close to £500....£780 for i5 processor, 16gb ram and a 256gb ssd
cheers for having a look!
