I'm hunting for a font that has a slanted capital 'A' in a similar manner to Avant Garde Alt.

Unfortunately in the 3000-ish fonts I do have, I don't have AG Alt and don't want to spend £140 buying it, as I'm not even sure I'll use it at the end of the day.

It's for a quick job to promote a bike event.

Any suggestions I should look for in my own stash, or hunt for online?

Set it in the closest font, convert to curves, and tweak the 'A' to get the effect you want.

If it's just the slanted A you need, can you draw that character? Or edit an existing A from a similar face.

Edit: beaten to it.

How much copy will you be applying it too? Is it just large headlines, then you could outline something similar and tweak it.

Hang on a minute. I've just downloaded it for free here

Thanks all.

I didn't click on - or even see - that link.

In fact, what link?

Set it in the closest font, convert to curves, and tweak the 'A' to get the effect you want.

I didn't even think of this, which is rather daft. Not enough coffee yet, obviously.

If you already have some letters from the same font then you can use online "find my font" type sites like this one ... Admittedly I've had mixed results, but sometimes it does turn up trumps.
