He's ok, he fills a gap left by the sad decline of Eddie Large.

Not exactly D.I.D material though is he?

Jesus, who's it going to be next week, Eno the weather girl?

Unrelated Desert Islands interesting fact:
Did you know Guy Gibson, leader of the Dambusters Raid, was an early guest on Desert Island Discs?

LOLs at RS...I too struggle with some guests, but at least some of the dull/unheard of ones have achieved something more than some (barely justified IMO) tv comedy success...

I think all the old ones are now on iplayer - inc Mr Dambusters?

To be fair, sometimes it's nice to have someone relatively normal on. Kind of... representative. It takes all sorts, you know. I though he came across as a good egg.

Loads of good stuff available in the archive as Cynic Al said.

You know, properly interesting people, who've actually achived something other than starring in 'Lesbian Vampire Killers'.

It's as much to do with age Yunki, for someone to be on at a young age, you'd think they's achieved more than the usual 60+ers...however that's usually only true if you measure their achievement by the no. of Heat covers they've made...

Sorry Yunkers, I just don't think he's achieved enough to be on.

Gavin and Stacey was great.

I'd have waited 'till he does two amusing things in his life before honouring him with a D.I.D though.

And starring in and co-writing BAFTA award winning 'Gavin and Stacey'
.
And treading the boards in the West End and Broadway in an Alan Bennett play.
.
And presenting numerous poplular shows.
.
And being heavily involved in Charity work.
.
And Best Male Comedy Performer at the 2007 British Comedy Awards.
.
Not bad for 'scraping the barrel'... But I guess comedy isn't 'properly interesting'. Brilliant.

v8, I can see where you went wrong there: 😉

I don't mind who's on the show, as long as they've led an interesting life and can talk about it.

And starring in writing BAFTA award winning 'Gavin and Stacey'.

I mentioned Gavin & Stacey.

And treading the boards in the West End and Broadway in an Alan Bennett play.

Thousands of people have appeared in Alan Bennett plays.

And presenting numerous poplular shows.

They may be popular, but so is 'The Sun'.

And being heavily involved in Charity work.

C'mon. You're pulling my leg now aren't you?

And Best Male Comedy Performer at the 2007 British Comedy Awards.

Russ Abbott got an award from them once.
😀

Sorry, boring, one trick child/adult hybrid with delusions of adequacy.
Aspires to mediocrity.

All in my humble opinion, of course, which is no more valid than anyone elses.

1. I don't want the complete works of Shakespeare unless it there to help start fires
2. You can shove the Bible where the sun don't shine, or as above.
3. I'll have a 160gig Solar powered ipod as the luxury to piss all over your concept.

Alright, maybe not heavily, but he's put time and energy into comic/sport relief at least three years in a row, as well as doing stuff for chldren in need, the teenage cancer trust, UNICEF and Great Ormond St. A damn site more than me, then.

I'm not saying he's a philanthropic genius of our time, but we're talking a 20 minute light entertainment slot on Radio 4, not a lifetime achievement award or This Is Your Life...

it is 45 minutes and he has not done anything admirable enough to have made it. He did funny show and he can act a bit..WOW a quiz show host how extraordinarily talented he must be etc
Imagine David Attenborough followed by James Corden...they are not in the same league

Denise Lewis came in between tbh but that weakened my point 😉

light entertainment slot on Radio 4
I am not sure anyone would describe it as this there has been some seriously good journalism in there as well IMHO

Oh alright then, how about very good, long running light entertainment slot? 😉

Theres been some amazing people on there, but some pretty non entity ones too, I mean, Bear Grylls? Danny Baker? Micheal McIntre? Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure they had something inteesting to say. variety being the spice of life, and all.

Like I said, it takes all sorts, and they have a lot of episodes to fill.

I listened to the David Attenborough edition and wondered does David , cos we're on first name terms, get fed up to the back teeth of people kissing up to him, cos he sounded embrassed by it. Even if he doesn't it's bloody painful too listen to, no doubt he a great man who's universily admired had a really interesting life, yes david, oh your so wonderful david, oh david can I have your babies. FFS shut up Kirsty.

"Lesbian Vampire Killers"

Now is that lesbians who kill vampires, or people that kill lesbian vampires????

Klunk, I think that you will find that the island you are sent to is near the French atomic test sites, so subject to EMP and will stop your ipod from working. Hence, only being able to use a wind-up gramaphone, as this will not be affected by EMP.
