I'm having fillings replaced in the back two molars (uppper and lower) this morning. Should I have the jab or suffer the pain for 20 minutes so I can enjoy a dribble-free day?
i had 5 fillings the other day, no anaesthetic, but they were not that deep, though drilling for two was uncomfortable...
depends on the size of filling suppose...
A little bit of dental torture never hurt anyone. Watch Marathon Man before you go in.
Take the drugs, take as many legal drugs as you can always.
Todays injections are pretty good- I used to go jab free to avoid the drooling but these days I find the effects are nowhere near as bad/lomg lasting (and tbh the jab isnt as painful)
I took the jabs. They have improved very much since last time - I didn't even feel the needle.
And the dentist was brilliant. She could tell I was nervous and I was offered music, DVD or TV to take my mind off things. In the event, it was about as painless as it could've been.
Thanks for the advice.
Injections EVERY time! I couldn't care less about drooling after. I'll be quite happy to have no pain, anything else is just about vanity!
I drool anyway.
Wouldnt be noticeable.
Dustin Hoffman..."Is it safe...?" Classic film.
Tv, dvd, handjob?? That's not NHS is it!
I have a major problem with dentists since a child, so much so had to go to day for 2 fillings and after several minutes in the waiting room i legged it, usually have to be referred to hospital for treatment but even thats not working these days.....sits back and waits for the piss take 🙁
I'm having a rear molar out tomorrow and I will definitely be having as much anaesthetic as he can safely pump in. He has warned me that there will probably be 'digging' involved as the root has cracked and previously been pinned to take a crown. Can't wait 😯
Not too worried though (he has 2 rather attractive assistants - one of the joys of going private) as I rarely even feel the needle except when it goes up a nerve goes up and makes your eyes water (literally). Had a couple of jabs 2 weeks ago and the effects more or less wore off within the hour.
I used to love the dentist (well as much as is possible...) but the nice guy retired, leaving a string of dentists I didn't like.
Thanks to a nice dentist at uni, despite 2 fillings, I'm actually starting to not fear the experience quite so much (although am now delaying going because its expensive and I haven't sorted out my PC1 form yet!)
