Evans cycles and others may be impacted; "Tuffnells worked with 4,000 businesses across the UK and around the world, including major brands like Wickes and Evans Cycles."

Not surprising, order grips about a month ago and never showed up. Evan’s just processed the refund yesterday. Glad I got sorted, going to be many more claims going in now!

Everything is delivery delivery delivery these days, and I'm seeing said vans from Amazon, post office and self employed multiple times a day in my area, so I find it hard to believe they could be stuck for work and needing to lay people off.

having work, and having profitable work are not the same thing.

tuffnells were specialist large delivery for b2b product (including bikes). Im guessing as costs rise and bricks and mortar shops (that would be recipients of said deliveries) falter, it's become harder to make it work - more stuff is shipping direct to consumer, something Tuffnells weren't into.

I think they were a bit old school and ran a lot of 7.5t vans with tacho's, nowadays you need to be screaming around in a flogged out LWB sprinter off your tits on 'phet or khat for 23hours a day

Fundamentally they delivered large bulky heavy items but on a basis of "you need to be in between 8am and Friday". If you work from home not a huge problem, but I think people are now spoiled by DPD who turn up when they say they will.

Same time you'll find a gradual reduction in drivers as the 7.5T automatic qualification is no longer available, and people with the qualification will work somewhere where they get paid double.

They did a lot of that too but they weren't really setup for it.
Feel sorry for the folks who lost jobs yesterday but it'll be a big ripple.

So far as I know there's only DX who will carry anything outsize now and there's a lot of business's (mine included) which rely on that.

Anyone know a carrier I can try for 6mtr long stuff 😟

7.5t stuff is dead.

No real load capacity. You're better off with a sprinter or going up to a 12tonner

I work for another Uk based Parcel /Pallet company that have work agaisnt Tuffnells for the last 34 years . We are no in undated with calls asking us to pick up the slack .  Tuffnells  were used by customers to move the  over sized goods , larger boxes, long lengths and pallets, they tried to be all things to all men. Some companies are dedicated pallet networks others parcels . DPD Hermes and Amazon drivers are mainly sub contractors on bugger all contracts doing deliveries for ex ammount per delivery.

You will find that they may be a buy out for them as last year pre tax profits were 5.5million yet the debt im led to believe to HMRC was one of the main reasons for them folding . Im sure you will find the vultures in the parcel companies world circling to take business and cherry pick the good accounts. Tuffnells are one of the last big boys out there in the industry after TNT were swallowed by Fedex , Lynx United carriers  Target ect all fell by the wayside.

I briefly worked in a Tuffnells hub overnight. Wow. What an eye opener. If something was due to go up into the mountains they'd rip the address label so they didn't have to take it. "Fragile" meant "football" etc.

That's not exactly a USP for tuffnells, it's pretty much SOP for the industry.

Though it does seem to vary depot to depot. Eg never send anything via Coventry with tuffnells unless you want it lost or broken, it's fine via Haydock though.
