Anybody got experience of deer ticks on cats? Does dosing the poor cat with Frontline really kill them so that if they drop off onto the furniture they can't infect you?

I've read that deer ticks dehydrate and die within a couple of days if they fall on the carpet and tumble-drying kills them.

I'm assuming tumble drying the cat is out of the question?

Do not do any of the above.

Ticks are easily removed. Get an OTOM tick removal tool.
If not then use something that gets right under the head of the tick, if you just squeeze it or pull it you risk leaving the head in and infection.
Also do not try any of the myths, vaseline, burning it with a fag, using tweezers, whatever.
You will cause the tick to empty into the cat, infection time again.

Just use a bit sense removing it and you'll be fine.

Frontline spray is best , but vets are ****s about giving it to you and want to inspect the cat £££

Bravecto spot on it’s far superior to Frontline.

Not sure there is a tablet form for cats too but for dogs it works very well.

frontline doesn't work in my experience. trying to remove a tick from a cats eyelid is entertaining!

Ooh it's a toss up between apple strudel and schnitzel, though brown paper packages tied up with strings remind me of Christmas parcels we used to get sent over from my German grandma when I was little. All neatly wrapped, string and sealing wax. The contents were even better.

Frontline spray is better than anything else I've used in 30 yrs of keeping working dogs and ferrets.
The spot on garbage is, garbage. But like I say, vets are arsey and want money from you before they sell you the spray.

Just don't try any of the old wives tales. Just remove the tick properly. Worry about treatments later.

We use Frontline Plus spot on regularly on the cats and by the time we’ve found the ticks, they are already dead. Like everyone else has said, use a proper tick remover. If you MTB or hillwalk you should have them anyway.
Eyelid, eek. I thought inside the ear was bad.
