Any recommendations for good but not ridiculously priced merino socks? I have fairly pongy feet so use them every day, so getting enough to fill my sock drawer at £15+ a pop is expensive!

I had fairly good experiences with the old Planet X ones which I previously bought in bulk, but the newer ones look to be a much lower amount of merino in the blend.

I use Sockguy Wooligan. 4". Last pair were from Amazon for £10. Not cheap but they last for years.

I have had a pair of  DeFeet Woolie Boolies for over a decade and have used them a lot. They are still going strong, I think they would survive a direct nuclear strike. Probably my greatest cycling purchase ever.

Woolie Bookie for me, just thrown a pair out after about five years heavy use.

I bought a load of Ulvang branded merino socks off eBay a couple of years ago for just over a quid a pair (seconds, apparently, but they all seemed absolutely fine!) after a recommendation on here. Just had a look as I could do with some more but they don't seem to be on there any more! Shame as I really rate them as everyday socks and obviously that was a mega cheap price! Anybody seen these about lately?

Like zilog6128 I also tried ebay again recently for those bargain Ulvang ones, a couple of the 6 pairs i bought for £8 a few years ago are getting slightly thin around the heel after fairly constant commuting abuse since then 🙂

Will be keeping an eye on this thread - I have a few pairs of the thicker Rapha ones from various sales over the years & they've held up really well, good for £5 or whatever when they're on sale - Evans sometimes has the Sockguy ones on sale for around the fiver mark too

Woolie Boolies - very hard wearing in comparison to the many other pairs of merino socks I've tried.  Smartwool PHD are good too - have padded sole for running

6 person to recommend defeet woolie boolies, rather thick, but I wear them all year. Fantastic socks. Comfy, protect your feet, never too hot, never too cold with good shoes. Worth every penny, last a long time.
