Looking to spend maybe 2 or 3 nights in the lakes, in a few week time, kind of an extension to the honeymoon abroad.

So needs to be good, great food, nice views, not full of old folk (sorry old folk).

Any recommendations?

I stayed at Storr's Hall, pretty good but I was staying for free, not sure how much it would cost. You can use the pool/spa etc at the Low Wood as well.

Spa, food, nice rooms, riding straight from the door.

Mrs Gti and I got married at the Samling at Dovenest: http://www.thesamlinghotel.co.uk/

Ab-so-lu-te-ly superb. They have private suites in separate buildings adjoining the main house, each one really stunning.

+1 for the drunken duck.

Fantastic food, we had afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast all of which were amazing. Use of the nearby spa and some brilliant views and walks from the door.

Oh it has its own brewery too which is always good.

Or if you don't want to spend the money, has to be the Damsen Dene.

Yeh, lakeside hotel. I've never been, but some family and friends work there so I guess I've got to recommend it.

Meh, for the end of your honeymoon you've got to go for Michelin Stars rather than AA rosettes.... After all you've probably spunked more money than you'll ever see in one place again, what's another couple of hundred quid?

+1 for the drunken duck.

Our room was average at best. I wouldn't stay again but I'd be happy to eat there. I'd like to try Sharrow Bay when I get the chance.

we had our honeymoon at the langdale hotel in elterwater. good rooms, good pool and spa, good food, good pubs down the road, right in the mountains. Couldn't fault it. and we only live 2o mins down the road!!
Damsen dene is nice if you like cold swimming pools!! (i work just over the road and use the pool regular.)

Stayed at the lakeside hotel a few times and can highly recommend it. Off there next week for four nights as it happens.
