Will be travelling up the m4 and could do with a decent cafe on the way up pref once I've crossed the bridge into Wales. Any suggestions?

Assume you know there a lovely café there?

Anyway, it won't be easy - your route is basically M4 - A470 - BPW, unless you want to go well out of your way you'll be in the realms of Services and Petrol Stations.

I've only ever had one reasonable meal at BPW.
Had greasy undercooked bacon butties twice. Now take my own breakfast.
Had a really nice sandwich, although the token limp bit of salad and 4 crisps was a bit crap.
Three seperate occasions the burgers have either been in slightly stale rolls from breakfast as they had run out of the brioche (no apologies) or the worst was one where the burger patty was like a rock it was so overcooked. Rejoining the mile long queue to complain got a really surly response and another 20 min wait for the replacement which had the same chips etc as the first one! (I know, I'd put brown sauce on them). Every complaint met with complete indifference.

Although I will happily go there and pay for the uplift I'd rather take my own food. (Bonus is that you tend to get to the uplift queue for the 1st pm one way before everyone else.)

If you were coming down the A470 there is no end of burger vans south of Brecon, although you need to pick wisely.
Can't think of anywhere on the way up from the M4.

I usually stop at Magor services. Shite really, but just works out right timing for an M4 trek from the South East.

Food at BPW café is okay but hit and miss on timing. They're not open early enough for brekkie.

There's various stuff around Merthyr though.

We just grab breakfast in the first services after the bridge.
It'd only be a McDonald's breakfast but that's usually enough to keep us going till lunch. They also do the usual cooked breakfast but its extortionately expensive.

Yeah probably at a service station is your best bet, I expect there are decent cafes along the way if you don't mind a detour off the motorway but I wouldn't bother personally. Also when you say decent are you after good coffee or food (or both)?
