For the OP, the money saving expert forums will be great for you, loads of people in similar and worse situations. And plenty who've come out the other side, which should give you hope and perspective. After a wedding and a baby in the last year, I've finally started to be more careful with money and that required a real change of mindset on my part. Maybe set a simple goal, like attacking a different area of expenditure each month and trying to reduce it.

Unless you know him, you making assumptions based on his contradictory posts.
I personally sympathise he is now in this position & can't believe the posts by a certain member, but you have to be prepared for life's pit falls sadly
