PayPal must think I'm an arms dealer and have suspended my account pending investigation following me “violating their Acceptable Use Policy. Specifically, the sale of ammunition, firearms, or firearm parts or accessories.”
All because I sold a bike frame via FB and the buyer sent me a deposit via PayPal, with the message “Deposit for Carbine”.
That would be an Intense Carbine frame, not a shortened rifle, but I guess PayPal have some software that’s simply picked up on the word and flagged it. I’ve tried – unsuccessfully thus far – to provide evidence that I’m not an arms dealer, but my account remains limited. Stuck in a loop of autobots with PayPal and desperately need to get a human being on the case. Brilliant.
Bloody Americans and their obsession with guns 🙂
Yeah you say that now… 😂
Dear Paypal,
he is.
I 9nce had to ship my Uzzi to the states.
Yeah imagine trying to sell an air gun. Ironically they seem happy enough to let you pay for these bits and bobs via ebay.
I once bought an ISIS BB using Paypal. It either got picked up by their anti-terrorism filter, or someone at Paypal was a mountain biker and was trying to save me from myself.
Either way, a short but detailed description of what an ISIS BB is later and my account was unlocked.
Hahah.. I'd never have a PayPal account! Why would you have what is essentially a bank account but with a company that's not subject to the same rules and regulations?
The only time I've used them is via a 'guest' one off transfer.
It speaks volumes if you've been banned for mentioning a potentially risky key word.. If I was selling automatic assault weapons I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be using PayPal as a currency service, I'd use my mate Diego from Brazil hahaha
Because buyer protection. Have you been sleeping under a rock the past 20 odd years?
Lol, so basically we could potentially inconvenience people whose ppal addy we know by sending them 10p with a message saying "for rpg" or "Cemtex."

From very recent experience (as in 10 minutes ago)

Don’t worry, I’m sure your tinfoil hat will protect you. 🙄😂
Wonder if people get suspended for selling old Cove frames as well?
I sell toy guns. Sometimes I sell toy bullets, sometimes I've even sold toy rocket launchers. Every so often ebay or paypal absolutely shit the bed for a couple of days then someone figures it out and goes LOL, aren't we silly. It's kind of funny but mostly just annoying.

Or even, your stylish beanie hat! 😀

Because you clearly don't understand what PayPal actually is or does?
but with a company that’s not subject to the same rules and regulations?
Yes they are.
Lolz I needed a paypal favour earlier. Glad I never asked you 🙂
I am sure I had a phone number for PayPal when I got china scammed and sent 2 duplo figures when I bought happy nappers... will dig it out.
If you get the right person its fixed instantly.

Thanks for the tip.
I've been having a nightmare with PayPal after they suspended our cycling club's account, because they can't get their heads around the notion of an unincorporated club.
Their support has been absolutely abysmal, with endless copy and paste form responses that completely ignore all previous correspondence.
They've previously suspended my company's business account for several weeks without reason or explanation. Fortunately we only do a small fraction of our business through PayPal, and we were happy to encourage customers to put their payments through a less hateful payment provider.
I once bought a strimmer from a shop called Bob Wild Grass Machinery. During a mortgage application the person checking our statements flagged it up as suspicious as the word machinery had been truncated on the statement. Could I explain what 'Bob Wild Grass' was about?

Phew. Didn't have to go as far as that - all resolved. I can go back to selling my ammo now, account reinstated after sending them info for review.
@robola, I've had certain geniuses (@stevemuzzy ring any bells) send me payment before with a whole range of 'comedy' references that made it onto my bank statement. Thankfully never had the need to show them to anyone.
I have never ever sent payments with amusing references, that would be childish.

..it gives me an enormous sense of well-being.

If you buy from various online retailers you can just hit the PayPal button and pay without entering name, address, card details etc,. so it saves a lot of time and effort.
There is also security, I would rather just have my card details with PayPal than with 50 different online sites with differing levels of security.
Plus it is not "essentially a bank account but with a company that’s not subject to the same rules and regulations?" in anyway whatsoever. You need to do a bit more research...
