Bought on vinyl record as I'm building a small collection after buying a TT last year.

Now I'm usually a fan of post-punk and electronic and jazz music but my vinyl record collection doesn't reflect this at all.

Shore - Fleet Foxes
Staying at Tamara's - George Ezra
Future Nostalgia - Dua Lipa
Stompin' at The Savoy - Rufus and Chaka Khan
and now Arrival by ABBA.

I've also developed a liking for yacht rock!

Does having a TT diversify one's taste through the different medium / sound and production values?

Discuss.

Audi TT? Depends... If it's a Mk1. TTS that you have race prepped, I'd say you are ok. If it's a base level Mk.2, then your only option is to open a salon and start advertising for custom now that hairdressers can work again.

You're definitely taking the "small" in small collection seriously if you've only bought 5 records since last year.

I didn't think even the mk1 TT was old enough to have a turntable...

Dunno about Arrival, The Visitors is their best album, and I cherry-pick from that.
There’s nothing wrong with any Fleet Foxes albums, ‘Shore’ has been very well received indeed.
Now, if you really want to find out how well your T/table plays quality music, get some Talk Talk, in fact get all of Talk Talk’s albums, there aren’t many, and Mark Hollis’ single solo album could prove a challenge, because there are long sections of almost complete silence, except for ambient sounds, which will stretch your tolerance for surface noise and dust in the grooves.
Also get some Steely Dan, particularly ‘Aja’ and ‘Gaucho’, and Donald Fagan’s ‘Nightfly’,
for outstanding songwriting, musicianship and recording quality.

I think you'll find the support group you're looking for at the drive in. Enjoy the singalong.

I bought this in about 1980, and it is still in my loft somewhere. Do I win a prize?

(fun fact SuperTrouper was the first single I ever bought)

Bought it on vinyl as well a while back. It's an absolute belter of an album.

Wait till you get onto Gerry Rafferty

My last 3 discs bought were Jethro Tull, Toyah and the Beastie boys. There are no rules on what you like btw.

I’d assumed with a name like @derek_starship there’d have been some Jefferson Airplane in there somewhere.

Nothing wrong with your choice of music.

Many things wrong with your choice of format.

Intrigued Cougar. What's your format choice?

It's my secondary format for a bit of fun and nostalgia. I have a Marantz CD63 MKII KI Signature and hundreds of CDs if that helps?

Is this thread really about which albums enhance the pleasure (sanctimony?) of owning a turntable?

Surely the BBC sound effects album should be on that list.

And that really old one by Billie Holliday with all the scratches - you just can't get that on a soulless CD or digital format.

And buy Back in Black and get somebody to vom on it, clean it, and stick it back on the turntable. Thats the sound of vinyl nostalgia
