I guess it's a personal affirmation of gender identity after what may have been a very difficult struggle with societal norms (i'm vaguely aware of the circumstance from previous threads but if i'm wrong then 😳 , apologies rachel)
doh! - edit sp
Well, if you really want to know why...
Years go, when I decided to come out as trans etc, STW was the first "normal" place online I started using my new name. Back then, it was very important to me that I wrote it - like some sort of need to express my identity and not be mistaken as anything other than Rachel.
It's not so important to me these days, I'm very happy with myself, but it is some sort of muscle-memory that just means I nearly always write it. That's all.
Rachel
ha ha quick edit.
I assumed it was some clever automatic thing you'd set up but you actually type it, apparently without fail? - that's genuinely remarkableIt's not so important to me these days, I'm very happy with myself, but it is some sort of muscle-memory that just means I nearly always write it.
DrP
I even spell it correctly each time, too!!
Is that you?
Are we allowed to make a joke about a trans with muscle memory?
Just gonna make myself comfy and see where this goes
Louis CK
You're not. I am 😉
Rachel
Ms Gear, How long did it take to choose your name? Did you even choose it? What else was in the running?
When we rebranded our shop it took 3 years to come up with a name.
Sir Zip.
I think we should all be know by our real name.
It'll never catch on
I'm interested to know why unfitgeezer is so bothered by this.
I even spell it correctly each time, too!!
The Rachael’s of this world may beg to differ!
Glad to see you finally got out of the Cabin Boy businessPugwash
No thanks to you!!! 😯

How long did it take to choose your name?
I'm inherently a lazy person - I kept the same initials as before so I didn't have to learn a new signature. That made it easier to choose. When I learned that Rachel meant "little sheep", the choice was obvious.
Rachel

I'm really struggling to place who this one is.
Susan.
Look up 'dead naming,'
Being addressed as your former identity, whether deliberately or through thoughtlessness can be very hurtful.
I'm not getting on a high horse here either; I have a friend who transitioned (M->F) recently and I constantly have to mentally correct myself when talking or thinking about them and imagine that it will take time for me to start instinctively start thinking of them by their new name.
So I can't really blame Rachel for taking every opportunity to remind people.
Why not choose Snoopy or Peppermint Patty?
Cheers,
Tinkerbell.
Well if its good enough fro Rachel, its good enough for me.
