I may be a bit late to the table on this one, but I've been watching a couple of these shows on Virgin 1 (yes, I'm a Freeview freeloader), and I have to say it is strangely compulsive viewing.

Daft as a brush, so it is, and of the few I've seen I was a bit puzzled by the pairings - last night was Green Berets vs Spetsnatz. Two very closely matched opponents (although Spetsnatz were always gonna win), whereas other weeks have had odd pairings, like Pirate vs Knight???

There's even one coming up where IRA out-terrorise the Taliban, or do they? Watch and learn.

What's the stupidest pairing you could hope to see?
Highlander vs Redcoat - wait, that's been done, We lost. Shite!

Yeah it's a guilty pleasure - I've seen the IRA vs Taliban one and it's absolutely ludicrous.

They seem to enjoy smashing up those dummys a bit too much imo.

The whole thing is generally in really bad taste but quite entertaining.

I also wonder about the 'experts' on it - if by experts they mean people who have spent too much time reading about ninjas on the internet.

Green Beret Vs. Spetsnaz? Not exactly fair... One is primarily tasked with training indegenous troops to carry out guerilla ops and the other are marine-based special forces akin to the SBS.

Spetsnaz Vs. SBS would be fairer.

The whole thing sounds a bit like someone doing a Harry Hill argument settling fight...

Call me slow (a result of watching crap telly, no doubt), but in reference to my earlier post.....I was musing a few minutes hence on the appropriateness of the term 'warrior' when referring to a member of the IRA or the Taliban.
It doesn't seem quite right to me.

Anyway, no time for dabate. I'm off for a fix of highbrow - Mad Men on beeb 4 right now.
Then again, it clashes with Sons of Anarchy on Five USA.
****! Left hemisphere or right hemisphere?
My poor brain! aaaarrrrgghh
