Hi All

Really struggling at the minute with the usual sudden, blaring alarm waking me up to pitch darkness!

Thinking of getting one of those sunrise alarm clocks and wondered if there was any real difference between the £30 odd quid ones on Amazon and the £100+ ones.

And if you've used one did you find it beneficial?

Cheers!

I use a smart bulb set to gradually come on over 15 minutes, coupled with a smar****ch with vibrating alarm (LiFx - doesn’t need a separate hub, just works of an app on your phone)
This set up seems to be a bit more flexible because the smart bulb can change colours between a red-orange glow and a bright-white retina burn.

*Smar****ch (just checking that I typed that correctly or if it’s the swear filter)

Ha ha. Smart watch.

Anyway, this bulb: https://amzn.eu/d/2131jqE

yes I find it hugely beneficial and a much nicer wake-up than the cacophony of beeping and ringing and god know what else.

Where are you based? I've got a Phillips one you can have for nothing. It works fine, but I'm fine with the buzzing of my phone to wake me and MrsIHN needs a full orchestral fanfare...

I have had a lumie for a few years now.

Since the day i got it i have never hit snooze, it's mega.

I am sure a smart bulb can have the same affect bit this is a one stop shop just set the alarm and it does the rest and you can control the actual clock brightness aswell so if you do wake up you can see you still have some time left and the symbol is bright enough that you can see the alarm is on.

It also has a good to bed light reduction mode and birdsong alarms etc

Battery and plug in so the alarm portion is backed up.

We've used a Lumie clock for years and our Son has one too.

Much, much more effective, and more pleasant than an audible alarm. Works great.

Bog Standard Lumie, about 30-40 quid everywhere. Highly reccomended.

We've got a Lumie and it is good, but the display/menu/set-up/UI is terrible. Maybe the newer ones are better but its really fiddly to set up and not at all intuitive. Its like they have put all of the design into the light and then just brought in the cheapest LCD electronics they could get in China.

I have a Lumie, which I've used for around 10 years.

For me it's genuinely life changing.  Less groggy in the morning, less fatigue during the day.  It's probably the one thing that if it broke tomorrow I'd be moving heaven and earth to get replaced as quickly as possible.

Thanks everyone - basic Lumie one ordered - hopefully will help! 👍

And thanks @IHN - I'm near Matlock - but unless you were just around the corner, I'm time-short at the minute so any money saved would be more than outweighed by the time taken to collect.

Ah, fair enough, I'm the other side/end of the hills (Disley), so about an hour away.

Very much this. I was given mine as a present. Not the most exciting present to unwrap but my god what a gift.
