Does anyone know why daylight savings changes at the end of March rather than the end of February?

The sun will be rising at 7:10 where I am by the 28th of Feb, which means there is an extra hour of sunlight in the morning that could be used.
Daylight savings end 2 months before the solstice, but start 3 months after.
Why? I would much rather have that extra hour in the evening a lot sooner.

Nope, sunrise is not that much different (maybe 10 minutes) so would make no difference by the end of February.

I have no idea.

But I am enjoying the fact it is 17:15 in central Scotland, and it is still (just) daylight. Whooooop!

How's that possible? I'm about 500 miles south of you and it's pitch black 😕

Agreed, this is the one thing I dislike about the whole idea. By mid March it's been light for ages in a morning by the time most people are getting up, but we're still getting home in the dark. Bah.

Manage your day better and get home at a decent time?. Even as a Scot though, I'd much prefer we got rid of the DST pish though.

You can blame Scotland for whether the clocks change but not when. That's a decision that is (rightly) taken in Brussels.

There's no good reason for the clocks changing asymmetrically and even as a Scotsman I'd be delighted for summer time to kick in at the end of February.

I love February - by the end of the month I will be riding to and from work in daylight each way.
