Generally i wear Five Tens, now owned by Adidas, but still sticking with their styles as per FiveTen.
These are the style i usually go for... but they're not the most functional outside of MTBing, but work well enough for day to day use like going to the shops, pub etc...
But i'm thinking of something a little outside of the norm for me.
I quite like these, look comfortable,
[img]
[/img]
Only issue currently is that they need to be Adidas as i've got a pending return with them so have £90 in credit, so may as well stick with them to use it up.
Adidas do awesome styles from the 80/90s, but i think i'm a bit old for them these days personally. Even though quite classic.
[/img]
I was debating going more 'walking' but they're a bit, well, clunky/bulky if you ask me, maybe a bit stiff and restrictive too
[img]
[/img]
I've got my 'work' boots, but they're more a dress style or posh nights out with shirt style... So... throw me some ideas.
My daily go-to are Five Ten Freeriders - super comfy.
Palladium boots.
Canvas in summer,leather in winter.
https://palladiumboots.co.uk/collections/mens

The last pair only work with grey sweat pants and a north face jacket innit bruv.
Salomon approach shoes of some kind.
Because day to day means walking a dog on unsurfaced paths and traipsing through wet grass.
Trainers only get dug out in the "summer"
Some of the Adidas terrex shoes might be what you are after for general walking duties.
I have some FiveTen Access trainers which are great. Had them a few years now and they are really comfy, grippy too and look decent. Unsure if they still do them though? I purchased my current ones from SportsPursuit.
day to day use like going to the shops, pub etc…
where do you live then?
Adidas terrex mid or the mid skychasers.. much prefer the extra support of mids
where do you live then?
Berkshire.
If you mean under CV19 restrictions, then you're just being a bit silly. I wasn't talking about "what shoes do you wear when you're not allowed to leave the house" as that would be a bit of a daft question wouldn't it ?
Adidas do awesome styles from the 80/90s, but i think i’m a bit old for them these days personally. Even though quite classic.
No way never too old. Im fully in the camp of get what ever you want / like.
I have too many shoes...
General wear: Vans of some description
Walking the dog in the rain/cold but on pavement or trying to look slightly more presentable: Moc Toe Work boots
Walking the dog in the wet/mud "offroad": Keen Hikers or Goodyear Wellies
Lifting weights: Reebok Nano 6/8/9
Riding bikes: Shimano AM9 or XC shoes on the gravel bike.
I have too many shoes…
As someone thats slimmed their collection down once it hit 3 digits im not sure thats possible.
I was a Vans man for a long time but I bought a pair of Adidas Terrex a couple of months ago and haven't looked at my Vans since.
https://www.adidas.co.uk/terrex-swift-r2-gtx-shoes/CM7492.html

Current set is:
Mammut approach shoe
Vans pro
Keen sandals
Depending on time of year and if I'm going to the office or not. Mammuts are slowly dieing. On their second set of laces and recently wee'd on by a dog I am on the look out for a replacement. They are so comfy and supportive even at 3-4 years old.
most of the time some vintage german para boots, just so nice to wear.
I wear my Adidas trail cross a lot for pottering around in. They're very comfy but are bigger than a "normal" trainer.
Five ten used to do approach shoes like the aescent, I had a pair of those for walking and they were great. Not sure if there's an equivalent now?
I have wide forefoot and slim heels, nike's seem to fit me best. I am mostly wearing a pair of these

Aside from that it's decathlon wellies or 10 year old Scarpa walking boots (which really need replacing, has anyone tried Hoka onoone walking boots or the boot/trail trainer crossovers?).
BUT the only reason I go out really is to walk the dog, so footwear is selected based on recent rain volumes.
Geox
Finest shoes I've had. Am trying to locate the same model I'm wearing today but can't find them anywhere. I'll be gutted when they die.
Why change? Just get the FiveTens. Since lockdown and WFH in new job all I have worn is either them or flipflops. Thinking of which I'm going to order another pair.
slippers.
Nike Free Waffle, I bought them years ago for the gym but stopped using the gym and realised they're super comfy and amazingly hard wearing day to day. I look silly in them but comfort is king.
As a bloke, isn't your taste in footwear set in stone when you're 18 and its then hardwired from that point on to never change?
I have a selection of different coloured New Balance 574 and 576, which also happen to be pretty much the comfiest thing you can put on your feet
Standard Adidas / Vans type skate shoes for around the house / warmer months. Several pairs of boots for through the colder months. Fitness / gym etc. is pretty much New Balance or Saucony. If and when we ever go back to the office then the brogues will be given a polish.

Yes,I know how stupid they look, but I don't care, they are the most comfi of things for my hobbit feet.🙃
Why change? Just get the FiveTens.
Part of the reason is that FiveTens are a bit useless if we go out for a stroll and hit anything mud-like. It could be argued i need another pair of walking shoes then... Which is potentially where i'm going in some ways.
I've got 3 pairs of FiveTens,
1 Freerider Pro, love them... they're my go-to day to day currently
2. Freerider, my go-to riding
3. not sure, they're more climbing style i think, they're used on the turbo.
Where the plan falls down is if the Freeriders get wet, they take 2-3 days drying out... So i really need to have either the Freerider Pro as a 2nd riding pair, but that then means i have nothing to go out in....
Binners has the right idea so far, NW don't fit my feet, but some old-skool styled Nike's are the option of choice. Of the selection you've posted it'd be the Gazelle's, no question.
Never wear active shoes for casual wear, running/walking shoes are no-go on a casual basis.
These are my latest casual pair.

Nike Air Huarache in a mid-grey colour. Super-comfortable & I had a pair of the original ones back in '93/4 for running, so when they were re-released I was gonna definitely get a pair.
Some completely black Nike 'skateboard' shoes.
Tan leather chelsea boots from Schuh which are smart, but not massively comfortable.
I had a quick look on the Adidas website - they've got tons of choice, so I think you'd struggle to not find something suitable.
day to day
ultraboost og or continental vulc at the minute,
i do mix it up with ZX 8000, zx700, NB m1400 / 574, terrex solo,
if you want five ten check out the five tennies.. great for a quick hike and mtbing
vans style 36 pumps are great. as are the premium converse chuck
also timberland or doc martens chucka boot.
and dont forget voucherscodes 11am today a £15 vouhcer for £25 spend on adidas
or the regular 30% off full price or 15-20% on discounted items, go via quidco or topcashback
i've bought maybe 2 pairs of trainers full price last year and i bought a lot.
i've bought and sold trainers since the mid 90s, its my second hobby
you can never have too many trianers or jackets in my life..
managed to pick up a few pairs of nike tailwind / waffle racer / international
all good looking retro 80s runners. not like those orrible air max chavtastic bubble stuff.
mr porter had them a month back for £22-30 a pair
the voucher codes rarely/don't work on Five Tens. They work on the Adidas items and the Terrex items, but not on FiveTens.
https://www.adidas.co.uk/five-ten-climbing-guide-tennie-shoes/BC0884.html?forceSelSize=BC0884_680
the Tennies i'm quite liking in Blue...
My etnies always seem to outlast my vans.
And there are always cheap ones to be had from skatehut.
Normally Loake, Barker or Solovair.
Clarks derby boot in goretex if it's wet
Merrel "Moab" chelsea boot in winter
Currently slippers or flip flops.
yeah i noticed that, this time last year freeriders were £40-45, sleuths £40-55 with codes.
then when they restocked late summer. game over..
i had some 25-30% codes last week that worked on the new colourways of the freeriders.
but the vouchercodes dont tend to, if you know any students the uniday codes work well and are the best discounts.
i've tried not looking at the adidas app, although the new Cord and TRX vintage looked great, glad they sold out in hours of release.
boot dryer, they are amazing, i let my boots drain in the sink then an hour on this and they feel much drier.. not sure about five tens, work on my terrex tivid and trailcross
Because they are teh veganz

Or black canvas old skool Vans low tops, since forever. Haven’t ever owned a pair of shoes, not in adulthood anyway.
But before spraining my ankle yesterday, I was hill running 4 days a week, avg 2.5h so probably spending more time in trail shoes than anything else (X-talons in slop, Nike Pegasus trails in dry)
You have a go at us for pizza toppings and then post them?
Me - I have a pair of trainers (Nike, I think, all black so can't see / remember the logo) and a pair of Converse (not the canvas ones, chunkier) that I bought cheap in an outlet store in the US when I was there 2 years ago,
I never wear trainers with long trousers / jeans. Only shorts. With long trousers, I either have some desert boot style brown boots, some Oxford boots, or my DM's.
Right now. Thick cricket socks instead of slippers. I haven't left the house in 6 days except for a bike ride and I have special disco slippers for that.
(lie - I have taken the bins out, and also taken daughter to work and back twice. I wore crocs, with socks, and hoped no-one saw me going from house to car and back again)
Infloooooencer.
(Awaits call from Ted Baker to start asking on here what undies are best for Teams calls)
1 Freerider Pro, love them… they’re my go-to day to day currently
2. Freerider, my go-to riding
to me this seems the wrong way around? Freerider pro is quicker drying and stiffer, as well as comfier and lighter. (admittedly some personal preference there but IMHO the far superior riding shoe).
Since I got my pros over a year ago my previous freeriders have sat on the shelf as a "spare" and not been used once.
I've got a pair of FiveTen Access (possibly discontinued?) for walking/casual. Summited Ben Nevis and Ben Lomoond in them. If you find a pair and they have garish laces, they do come with a black pair in the box too.
Merrells of some flavour, usually the Stretch type because I’m too lazy to operate laces. Also got some Sketchers for smart casual but the Merrells are more comfortable so get worn the most. I tend to wear them until there’s holes in the soles.
Crocs Santa Cruz lace up for work - by far the most comfortable 'formal' trainer style shoes I've owned - if your on your feet for alot of the day they are amazingly comfortable & I wear through a set every 6months to a year but a bargain at around £35. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore so I'm stuffed for 2021/22
Five Tens, now owned by Adidas
"Now" as in a decade ago?
Anything by Freet, Lems or Xero. Other "natural footwear" brands are available.
I like shoes shaped like feet, not forcing my feet to be shaped like shoes.
Usually wear Vans - probably got 10 pairs, but Five Ten Sleuth slip-ons have been my go-to while working from home. Just ordered another pair.
Outdoors - a pair of Keen walking boots. Lightweight and so bloody comfy.
Currently slippers or flip flops.
This.
I've got 5 or 6 pairs of Reef Fannings. Sooo comfy

If I need actual protection for my feet, a pair of Merrell Accentors.

They're really sturdy & grippy, and so comfy I got myself a pair of the boots too for winter riding.

My preference is for classic tennis shoes. I love Adidas Stan Smiths but then a few years ago cool people started agreeing with me abs priced me out. I used to buy them for £20 a pair but they’re £50+ now
I switched to some puma things as a result, smash maybe(?) which are the same thing made by the other brothers company. Dead comfy, last well and look acceptable.
White leather for me, various accent colours generally whichever is on sale.

I've been using the Five Ten Access for a couple of years but just split the sole, been looking for a reasonable priced replacement and found the Five Tennies reduced direct from Adidas in grey:
https://www.adidas.co.uk/five-ten-five-tennie-approach-shoes/EF7513.html
I then googled for a 20% discount code and found one that worked.
Also a few weeks ago I managed to get a 30% discount code to work on the new Freerider Pro's Primeblue
For all day comfort anything from Ecco. I wear the Track25 in either boot of shoe. Maybe not cool enough but have a look. I am an old man so can get away with it.
New Balance 373 for me. Just buy them when they're on offer
All I've worn for the last 20 years is pretty much Converse all-stars. I'll probably get buried in a pair.
Look cool at any age, and work with most outfits.
Second choice is some Gazelles.
They seem to strike the right balance between suede NBs 574s and Vans/Adidas/Five Ten.
Look good with shorts and jeans, comfortable, ventilated, very long lasting. Caned mine for 3 years.
For me it'll be one of my various flavours of Doc Martens if out on the streets.
Walking the pooches is currently done in my Bison wellies.
I've gone full circle. As a kid my mum insisted on only buying me Clarkes, when all the other kids were getting Nike Airs.
It turns out not only are Clarkes very good shoes in general, they are now a status symbol in Jamaica, so I'm finally cool too.
^ I just bought a pair of NOS Clarks dating from about 12 years ago when they still made the ‘Cushion Cell’. My old ones are still going but didn’t wish to be left high and dry when they finally give up the ghost. I like Clarks. Rubber soles and faux-stitching won’t be winning me any style-points, but then again being over 50yrs old and with ‘problem feet’ isn’t so stylish to begin with 😎

Also:

This season I can be mostly found wearing one of these:

👆 should really be @Cougar's shoe of choice

for in the house
or

for the running
Might have to wear proper shoes if I ever work in an office again.
Various retro Nike/Adidas or New Balance trainers.
Currently sporting Nike Air Odyssey in sage green
For decades I wore some form of approach shoe, I've tried loads of different brands, some better than others. None of them have ever been truly waterproof and none have ever been so comfortable I could have said they 'fit me like a glove'
Then towards the end of last year I saw pages on this site where Blundstone 'Blunnies' got mentioned. I bought a pair, what an absolute revelation!
So comfy they 'fit me like a glove', just about waterproof, provide plenty of grip (more than most approach shoes) and with a bit of polish look smart enough for most lock down occasions.
I'm converted!
Barefoot at home or in the garden, brooks for running, salomon xa pros for kicking about outside.
Salomon quests for walking and my snow boots for after swimming.
Terrex trail cross for riding.
Mostly barefoot though thanks to lockdown
Boots. I have my winter boots and my summer boots, though i do wear my summer boots in winter, but not my winter boots in summer.
Winter boots are Brasher Towa GTX, Summer are clarks.
My sis was manager for Clarks so i got them all(the Clarks) at a very nice price and favour goretex lined.
Bekina wellies will be on my feet a minimum of a couple of hours, often all day long, on every single day of the year that I am here on the farm.
I wear nothing but socks on my feet in the house (much to the chagrin of mrs wf). I have some steel toecap dealer boots for going to market or if I have to go to my mates works to help out with some welding work. Otherwise I have a single pair of 5.10 trainers I wear just about everywhere else.
Just picked up a pair of the Five Ten Guide Tennies for 'summer' wear (25% off at the Adidas store via the app and discount code someone PSA'd) or a pair of Birkenstocks for 'domestic' wear. I usually have 3 or 4 pairs of running shoes on the go as well as a couple of pairs of boots (Hoka).
Palladium boots
if you’ve a nose for a bargain... you can pick up unissued french army surplus palladium’s
mine cost a tenner
👆 should really be @Cougar’s shoe of choice
Oddly enough, you'd have been right if you'd pointed in the other direction.
Indoors I wore Birkies exactly like those until they died and I'm now relegated to cheapies. Outdoors I wear whatever Salamon approach shoes I can find on offer whenever I need to replace them.
I wear Tom’s everywhere. Judge me now
Husqvarna Technical 24 mostly, very comfy, supportive, as waterproof as wellies and should protect my feet when I'm day dreaming.
From back door to yard though it's some old Salomon trainers that are getting closer and closer to being sandals.
While this thread is running has the FiveTen shape changed much in the last couple of years? I have the devil's own job of getting shoes with a wide toe box for biking. The older pair of FiveTens I have is spot on as are my Adidas trainers (both are pre Adidas buying FiveTen). I could do with some SPD XC type shoes for the gravel bike but they're all winkle pickers.
Pretty much the only non sailing, non biking shoes I've warn regularly outside of my house boundary in the last year are my Berghaus walking boots. Some factory seconds I bought a decade ago, still waterproof and uppers still in good order but the soles have finally worn through the rubber at the heels. I literally have no idea what to replace them with. I've done loads of walking in them in all weathers. 😭😭😭
Outside of Covid it's usually brown shoes or short boots of some sort for non sporty stuff. I get the shoes at 18 thing. My smart office shoes are DMs and my trainer style preference is skate shoes. I'd happily have another pair of DM boots for casual use but maybe not in black with jeans these days.
Any sources for chainsaw boots at cheap prices ?
I could do with a pair but have just bought another saw so have blew my tree cutting budget for the next few months.
@brads not sure at the moment. Got my current pair about 15 months ago when they had dropped as low as £130, but back up around £200 now like when they first came out. Still worth it, on cost per wear they work out well too, easily 2 years in forestry with a bit of care.
Radmore Tucker and Northern ARB seem to be pretty competitive currently.
If you're an occasional user, there's usually stuff on FB marketplace when stuff hasn't fitted or new people sell up when they realise it's harder than it looks.
Day to day? New Balance 373’s, most comfortable trainers I’ve ever owned!!
Day-to-day footwear? A pair of these:

Portwest FW57 Steelite waterproof safety boots. What I wear for eight and a half hours a day, every day of the week. I’ve been known to wear them in the evening and at weekends, too, depending on weather. They are extremely comfortable, quite light, and the leather is very soft, so the don’t crease across the instep like some boots.
I’m issued with them, but I’d happily buy my own if I had to, they’re so nice to wear.
Outside of work, Meindle Desert Fox combat boots, I’ve got four pairs I picked up off eBay, none cost more than £38, and all but one pair had virtually no wear. Fantastic boots, retail at about £170...

@brads. The Oregon boots at Screwfix are great value and do the job ok.
Binners, and in particular @whatyadoingsucka who id like to have a shufty of what he has coming up for sale, have it right. Day to day footwear has to be trainers. Proper trainers.
Wearing your outward bound shoes day to day is just one step away from Croc wearers. I see “Action Dad” all the time, particularly at school pick ups. Pair of Merrells, straight cut jeans or action Dad favourite, the cargo pant, some kind of outward bound jacket that keeps you from the elements even at the poles even though we are in the heart of Buckinghamshire - sheesh 🙄
I will admit I have a small collection of trainers and shoes for day to day wear and consist of quite a few retro pairs, so will admit I’m also perhaps considered daft...
Winter Docs.
Summer Converse.
Work outside Haix high liability Gortex Army issue. Basically combat wellies
House Czech Army surplus wool socks.
Salomon XA Pros. It's been those for over a decade. I'll buy them when I see a good bargain so usually have a spare pair waiting to go. They even come in a all-black colourway so don't look to conspicuous.
Barefoot around the house and garden/further afield in the warmer months. Five tens on the bike. Merrell trail glove for gym and various pairs of vivo barefoot the rest of the time depending on the situation.
If you like the five ten or old skool Adidas stick with them.
Barefoot around the house and garden/further afield in the warmer months.
How much further afield do you go before you put shoes on? Im in the if I walk out my front door I put shoes on camp... basically do you go tesco barefoot?
https://www.adidas.co.uk/five-ten-climbing-guide-tennie-shoes/BC0884.html?forceSelSize=BC0884_680
Ordering a set of Tennies, i can get 30% off with code for them. Just got to wait for Adidas to re-credit my account for the ones i sent back.
That was a pair of Sleuth by the way, cheap for a reason, feel cheap and flimsy compared to Freeriders/FRPro.
