Going to Dartmoor this weekend with the lesser-cycling lady friend. We aren't taking bikes.... I know, I know...horrible isn't it.. but it has been decided.

Can folks recommend some good...walks(sniffles..) to do or other rad things to visit and see?
I've been there loads with a boat and a bike, but not too much without any kind of...equipment.
😀

Not a bad shout actually. Paddled it a few times so would be interesting to see it from the bank, providing you can get down the whole thing...

Thanks Huckleberryfatt, that looks like a good start. 🙂

This, or try the Tamar.

Head into Old Dartmouth for Tea n Cake afterwards.

Upper is a bit of a scramble in places but doable river left the whole way down. Some nice swimming spots too.

Upper Dart, Do you mean from Dartmeet down to Newbridge and vice versa? If so, great walk / scramble. Great swim spots and still warm enough for a dip as haven't had much rain of late. Tavistock Inn at Poundsgate or the Church House Inn at Holne good for a pint of Ale and are nearby.

yep. above dartmeet it splits into west dart and east dart.

Supposed to be a nice walk up the east dart from postbridge but I've never done it.

Walking the Plym past dewerstone is worth a look as well.

Wistmans Wood (short walk from Two Bridges) really ancient dwarfed oak woodland, take your camera.

Shipley Bridge, walk up the Avon, stunning walk, the Avon here is a very pretty fast flowing river through rocky valley

Grimspound - Bronze Age Settlement

+1 for castle Drogo, great walks in the gorge beyond.

Buckfastleigh/Ashburton - Buckfast Abbey, Butterfly and otter sanctuary (in a hot house, fascinating to see tropical butterflies, terrapins, small birds etc)

Widecombe In The Moor, pretty village, huge church, surrounding tors, Uncle Tom Cobley and all, nice pubs.

Cheers, some great suggestions so far. A swim would be lush(normally avoided from a kayak)
