My dad is wanting to sell up and move back nearer to the kids in London.

House is in the national park, on the northern side near Sticklepath / Oke.

Anybody got an recommendations for "Dartmoor specialist" estate agents - or is one as good as another? Should we just put it on Purple Bricks?

Alternatively, anybody want to buy a 3 bed cottage in two acres of wooded hillside on the edge of Dartmoor...

Sounds lovely! Where is it?

Mansbridge and balment seem to cover the southern dartmoor/plym valley area. Looked at a few with them. Didn't seem special, just thats their geography. Depends where the house is i guess. None of the fees will be cheap and if moving to a potentially more expensive part of the country saving 5k or more could be very helpful so ourple bricks could be a good choice....

Pretty much the bottom of Cosdon Hill.

Did you @fadda

My maternal grandparents were Bowden of Bowden & Sons. Bolt's house was my Great Grandmother's home (Bowden nee Bolt).

Paternals lived in Mill End House before it was a hotel and moved to Westcott, just down from the graveyard. The same graveyard that functions really well as a family tree!

Small world!

I'd be interested, but only if it had one of these 👌

@Makecoldplayhistory - my parents bought the Moor Park Hotel in about 1971/2, and we lived in various places in town (including the Bullers Arms) up until about mid to late 80s, when we moved to Okehampton.

Both my parents are now sprinkled on top of Meldon Hill....

Really interesting. Our families probably know each other.

Well, I have a very festive surname, if that prompts anyone in your family, and my sister still lives in Drewsteignton.

But I've derailed Jim's thread so I'll just add that I'd have thought Stags and/or Rendells, as hamish says above, are probably as good as anywhere for bricks and mortar agents with local presence and knowledge
