our TV has just given up working
its a Sharp lcd 37 inch and cost a small fortune when they first came out .

reluctant to throw a heap of money at it for a repair
so what similar sized TV would the STW viewers recommend

and is there anywhere that buys old broken stuff like this

I went to Richer sounds and bought one of their LG's on clearance. Awesome TV, love it. (But then we did have a 24 inch TV for about ten years before that.)

edit: I meant LG

Sure you must have a few LEDs lying around to build yourself one?
Trouts all new 10000000 lumen tele. You would also be able to turn the heating off as well.

Bought a 37" Toshiba at the weekend (only went in for an XBox-to-monitor cable...), 1080p, HD etc etc.

£350 - almost half the price of the last (smaller) flat screen I bought.

ebay it, but can't imagine anyone would buy it, and the postage will be a 'pain'

Is it the one with the separate box?

We've got a LC32HE 2004 vintage (IIRC) one that is packed away. E-mail me with an offer if you want to buy it* and swap out the box. Our box works and the screen has a small fault (<5mm) caused by me being a div.

*Subject to the missus not having a grand plan for it.
