Have we done the Mail getting sued by Prince Harry, Sir Elton, baroness Doreen Lawrence, Liz Hurley et al?
Could this be the Fail's 'News of the Screws' moment? I bloody hope so.
I fear it's popularity, especially online, will see it through, but I hope this costs them millions and exposes more of their lies.
Well Dacre is going to get his peerage so he won’t be so bothered now perhaps?
The Mail is whinging about this, in particular about Doreen Lawrence being part of the group action implying that they can’t have been spying on her as they were going after the killers. But luckily most fair minded people can see through that argument.
This is very telling.
I hope they get the full truth.
Would love it, LOVE IT for those ****ers to go down

I hope they are sued into oblivion.
Be nice if this scuppers that bottom feeder's peerage although I fear this is too much to ask for.
When I looked at the Daily Mail online last night there was no mention of this story so it can not be true
The allegations apparently include more active/intrusive stuff like bugging and listening into live phone calls, essentially the News of the world was shut down due to phone hacking (mainly voice mail IIRC). Hopefully this will do for the DM.
Although much like the 'Sun on Sunday' now exists to fill the void left by NOTW, I'm sure the 'Express' would just get upgraded to hate rag #1 if the Mail dies...
Either way, I hope they get a kicking (legally/financially)...
For me the Mail serves a purpose in that if I'm content and happy in my life and enjoying a fairly centrist liberal view, I can read the mail and shake my first in outrage and despair.
As a ‘news’ organisation, the whole thing is more toxic than Chernobyl, and I’d dearly love to see the whole organisation torn down, razed to its foundations and erased from history.
Same goes for Murdoch’s equally toxic organisation. 🤬🤬🤬
A different bias has it:
All these stories that pop up in news feeds seem to be substantiated by the simple phrase “our sources close to (said person)…..
Aka…..we just made this shit up
I am not sure what qualifies Paul Dacre to sit in the House of Lords but perhaps this impending legal case will add further pressure to abolish the House of Lords and establish another second chamber which is actually representative of the UK population.
A clear and unambiguous commitment by a Labour Party expected to have a mindboggling huge majority next general election would be nice.
Once abolished I can't see any future government being able to return the second chamber to shameless cronyism.

I’m sure that suggestions of envelopes full of cash or ‘favours’ being passed around on the quiet would be met with a firm denial and threats of court action; it’s also possible that a lot of people are afraid of what information he’s got stashed away due to the activities being raised in these allegations.

The exact same thing that qualified him for head of Ofcom I reckon
How do phone calls get tapped in this day and age?
I mean, I mostly use whatsapp for phone calls so I'll straight away know it's facebook/Zuckerburg if any of my private conversations about misappropriation of ferrets get leaked.
Either that or my LG smart TV is secretly sending audio data to the tories, despite it being turned off.
Wire taps on old fashioned analogue phones? James Bond-esque microphones in the lamp-shade...?

If I told you I'd have to kill you.

Some of the allegations go back decades, so yeah, different technology. Also, simple good old bugging of rooms etc alleged to have happened amongst other things.

Yeah, he seems to be slightly confused too.

But if I told you, you'd have to kill me.
Take your pick.

It appears that way:
"The hiring of private investigators secretly to place listening devices inside people’s cars and homes"
How do phone calls get tapped in this day and age?
For the NOTW it was simply trying the number and using the default passcode (0000 If I recall). Most people are not tech savvy, and the journalists relied on that...

Not necessarily. Look up the NSO Group and Whatsapp for how it has been compromised in the past.
For listening into mobiles there were various ways to do so in the past with varying levels of cost.
2G networks could be compromised by a fake base station and then using a bit of trickery to lower the encryption protocols to one easily cracked. I think its been steadily getting harder as its gone to 3, 4 and 5g and the designs have improved but possibly still doable.
As tiRed says though a lot of the "hacking" in the past was just using default passwords to get access to voicemails.

Watsapp/Zuccerberg can't see what's in your watsapp, that's the point of end to end encryption.
However, watsapp by default backs up to google/iCloud, so if your password for either of those is unimaginative or used on something that's since been compromised then it'd be fairly trivial for anyone that wanted to to read all your watsapps, more trivial than some far less "secure" conversations because you don't even need to break into your house or actually 'hack' anything.
It think the daily mail serves a legitimate purpose. Basically if I’m ever in a moral conundrum, or trying to align my thinking on a contentious topic, I can check the DM’s stance, then chose the direct opposite safe in knowledge it will make me less of a xxxx
In all Seriousness though, how will I find out the latest news on the death of Lady Di if it goes to the wall?

I think you are confusing the Mail with the Express.
Where can I read about what the allegations actually are?
