I'm used to earworms - (songs that are stuck in your head) but this one is new for me. Whilst wandering around youtube I saw the Jenny Ortega "Wednesday Adamms dance" and now that image is stuck like an earworm. Such a striking image but by 'eck its stuck in there. Its not a lust thing at all but she makes such a strong image.
Am I just being even more odd? 🙂
Anyone else do this?
Dunno how to get rid. with an earworm you can sing a different song but whats the antidote to this?
This, obvs.
I love Wednesday but this is my real earworm at the moment
Thanks ratherbeintobago. thats really helped Arrggghhhhhhh
I've no idea what the antidote is. As for earworms, we went to see these lot a couple of weeks ago and this has been lodged in my head ever since. It just won't leave
Listen to it at your peril
In answer to the original question, yes, in addition to music, I get names stuck going round in my head. Watch a lot of rugby and randomly I'll be thinking "Who the hell is Alex Nankivell? why's that name stuck in my head?" Alex Nankivell Alex Nankivell... drives me bleedin nuts. Not just Alex Nankivell that was a random selection.
I got Puff the Magic Dragon stuck in my head on a 7 hour solo ride once. It's a great song, but...
Also, the image of Thomas Edison testing the electric chair on an elephant has always stayed with me. Granted, it was a very naughty elephant but it was provoked. Still, electrocution was a bit easier than hanging.

It's not just me then? 😀
The name or word ear-worms seem to last longer than music, and tend to happen when I'm stressed about something.
I did the Kielder 100 (the original MTB race from about 10+ years ago) with the theme tune to In The Night Garden on loop in my head for the entire race. It was very odd, but not necessarily in a bad way. Almost therapeutic over that distance.

I get this loads, Pieter Van den Hoogenband the ex Dutch swimmer is a favourite!!
Well at least I am not the only one with issues! 🙂
Binners - you b@$*%d, that’s going to be with me ‘til my dying day!!! 🙂
This little green bastard. Better than 99% of songs released by known musicians.

Kylie - "I can't get you out of my head, it is more than I think that mn gjkhbnfb" 4 bloody hours of the ride without a clue what the end of line actually said but with the beat in time to my pedal strokes. This meant it varied depending if I was going up or down hill.
Sometimes like a really slow southern drawl "I can't.... get you... out ... of my head..." and sometimes like a demented acid house rave tune "IcantgetyououtofmyheaditismorethanIthinkthatmngjkhbnfb"
With her dancing in that long white scarf dress thing in time to the music
I’ve no idea what the antidote is
Music that feeds your brain is the antidote.
Also listen to music sparingly! My finger SHALL NOTbe wandering anywhere near the play buttons on those videos up there 🤣
I have a question stuck in my head.
I carry out a specific role at work. If I spelt it roll, you'd all laugh at me.
However, the department that rewards me for carrying out my role, is payroll. What's that about?
Payroll - is the roll ( as in roll call) of employees pay
Drawing pins
For me - it's not so much an earworm, that to me says you have that and only that on loop that won't go away.
I get all sorts of songs come into my head at 'random' moments. I speech mark the random bit, because it actually isn't random at all, it will be a distinctly relevant song. But the odd bit is that I don't choose the song, it comes to me subconsciously, and the song or a snatch of it becomes that moment's earworm. Then I have to go beyond the earworm to find what the song actually is at which point the relevance becomes clear.
But I absolutely don't make an active choice.
Example to make sense - I had the first guitar intro of this on loop in my head on Sunday afternoon.
Why? Because I was out pruning back an overgrown tree. I didn't actively think I needed a song about chopping, but somewhere it was decided that I did.
I've never going to be able to take stairs again without thinking of this.
