I'm contemplating leaving West Yorkshire to move to Paris. As someone who likes biking and doesn't like big cities I fear this could be profoundly stupid. However I've been where I am for a long time and feel it's time I left my comfort zone. No wife, no kids just 3 bikes.

Anyone have any first hand experience?

Sod Paris, get somewhere close to the alps, great biking and skiing on your doorstep. What could be better..?

I'd love to, but sadly I can only go where the work is and my attempts to get work in Nice/Grenoble have fallen flat. It's hard to get a job in France it seems, when you don't speak french.

I've driven in Paris and didn't enjoy it much. I wouldn't like to ride a bike there.

I can think of a million other places in France I'd rather live, but I'm assuming you're going where the work is? Otherwise, why Paris?

Paris is a lot closer to the alps than Bradford 🙂

Paris is a fine city in which to cycle (and live). But the French working culture is quite alien.

Don't confuse "doing something you know you won't like because you are bored" with "trying something outwith your comfort zone".

Paris is one of the best places I've ever cycled. Brilliant city to ride around.

@corroded why is the working culture so alien?

@cynic-al how do you tell the difference?

You'll love cycling in Paris so long as you are Okay getting your adrenaline kicks from near misses with traffic rather than downhills!
