mates asked me for some advice on a problem hes having, and as its cycle/pc related i thought this is the ideal place to ask. well, its the ideal place to ask about anything really, but you know what i mean.......
he wants to instal a cycle simulator called bkool, some of you may use it yourselves? hes got an 8 month old laptop with the necessary space and ram, but when he goes to www.bkool.com to download it, it directs him to this link...... http://bsimresources.bkool.com/game/setup.exe (i havent done a direct link for the following reason.....)
his pc then tells him that its a virus. it gets more complicated as his AV is mcafee which came pre-loaded. i havent 'done' AV's for ages as i use a chromebook, but i seem to remember stuff like mcafee and norton were always slagged off for being untrustworthy, resource heavy and a pain to get rid of.
of course, it could actually be a virus??
my questions are......
1. does anyone use bkool and have downloaded it from that link?
2. whats the AV and firewall of choice these days for a modern windows laptop and how should he totally get rid of mcafee?
thanks a lot
I copied the link into "submit files, browse" 3/18 scanners found malware
hmmmm..... strange. too dodgy to go ahead do you think? is there anywhere else to get the software from do you know?
thanks
