Washing up knifes, forks and spoons.
The Spoons and Forks naturally seem to go into the metal drying rack/basket thingy with their handles downwards, but that feels wrong from knives, which it seems more natural to put blade downwards into the basket.
Why is this?
Blades up is the natural order of things.
Weirdo
No separate cutlery drawer?
Oh, teh hugh manatee!
Everything goes in business end down, so you then pick them out with the handles - obvious really!
Yip, all the sharp bits towards the center of the earth... if you need to know why I suggest you reinvigorate the common sense tool God gave you.
Every thing goes in business end up.
The butler sorts this one out for me.
Not a problem when you use a spork for everything.......
Not a problem for me - I eat all my food with a naan bread and/or chappatis.
Business end down, you animals.
My forks and spoons don't fit in the dishwasher business end down.
My knifes don't fit business end up.
Im forced to mix and match.
May God smite those sinners who in their wickedness put the knives blade down.
There has been more than one death recorded from falling onto knives in a dishwaher. Business end down. We had a Miele with the tray. nice idea, but we left it in the old house.
My cat got into the dishwasher and cut herself on a blade-up knife.
Sudocrem on the cut?
Sudocrem on the cut?
I googled that but must have misspelled something. I found a long thread full of advice and when I tried the recommendation something felt just, well, a bit wrong.
Steak knives point down, all else point up. And no proper knives in the dishwasher. A flaming bush told me, so it must be true.
Forks and spoons up so you can fit more in and see what's what when you need to grab one to eat something and knives down so you don't jab your hand when rushing to grab a utensil to eat something. Except for my best sharp knife which is put separately on the drainer so it doesn't get blunted on other utensils.

I've posted the above to add to this thread - not to say 'been done before'.
Knives (as in proper ones, not cutlery) go on one of the horizontal racks at the sides of the top rack else there's a public enquiry convened by Management... :-/
