i have got to ride to Edale on saturday from Leeds.

normal route from mine is TPT to Oxspring then down through Wharncliffe to Sheffield.

then up to Ringinglow.   but the Sheffield bit is a Pita.

so was considering going over Cut gate.

any idea's greatly appreciated.

There are flagstones where it used to get boggy, it'll be fine now.

Always amazed when people trot out this nonsense. Yes they have flagged the worst bits, but there are still loads of sections that are highly weather dependent.

Having days which, I reckon it'll be in great condition at present. I've never seen the trails as dry as they were last week.  Not sure how much rain since then.

It’ll be fine for a few weeks yet I suspect. There’s always the small roads via Strines Inn to use when avoiding Sheffield as an alternative.

Civil as ever I see 🙄

After the recent very long dry spell there's no chance of the limited recent rain spoiling things for OP.

As you've said yourself.

I don't know for a fact - but having ridden Cut Gate fairly regularly over the past few years, I'd have absolutely no issue about riding it now, despite the bits of rain we've had this week.

You should be OK. The bit of rain we have had this week from the Langsett side will have helped it as it was very dry and dusty last week

I've been keeping my eye on the rainfall radar and there's been more rain in the west and on the tops than in the lee of the Pennines (like in Leeds - which is still pretty much dry)

..so I don't  think cut gate will be totally dry.

However, as per above it's been armoured/flagged on the bits that used to be really boggy. The only bit that really gets unrideable in the wet now is on the way south (to slippery stones), across the grass before you descend steeply next to bull clough. *However I think it'll be fine*

Note though, that it is quite roughed up in parts after rain over the last few winters. I have managed to clean the climb from langsett to the cairn earlier this year though so it is still rideable/pedalable

That is seriously impressive. I always wanted to go this, but only managed to do it in two overlapping sections. I think the first crux soon after North America path junction has recently got much harder, but no doubt it will change again.

There's a few bits to get caught out on..

Yes the steep crux up from the North America turn is tricky but there's a line to the right.

The other bits are where it steepens up over the beck a little further up. A bit thrutchy and easy to spin a wheel if mistimed.

Then further up, easy to go down a 'blind alley' rut with no easily do able escape route!

Good fun
