Looking for present ideas to get photos from my laptop to make a gridded photo frame with say 5x5 number of photos in it. Like square insta photo's.
If I'm doing lots of them, it will get expensive. E.g. LaLaLabs do it.
What programmes can I use to DIY it and just take it to a printers locally?
Any help appreciated on this greatly received.

GIMP would be a good, free, place to start.

Any decent photo editor can do that. But it would need a bit of skill. Some are free like GIMP
It would be easier to do in Word. You could then print to pdf and see if some where can print pdf
I use Lightroom but it takes me ages to remember how to do it each time
Get photos. Take to printers. Say "can you assemble these please?"

I never got on with GIMP. I thought Paint.Net was way more intuitive.

Dear god, no.
There are several phone apps that do this, I imagine you can get similar ones from the windows app store. Doesn't Google photos also do it?
I use collage maker - gridart on my phone. Lots of grid options but you would want to check the output resolution before getting them printed.
