You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
I've just taken my ancient RC car out for the first run in about 12 years, after re-winding and re-timing the motor, it went like poo off a proverbial shovel and I was really enjoying it until I power-slid into a cracked ice sheet. Apparently -6 isnt the temperature you should be using plastic parts in, the rear shock plate ripped a chunk off the back gearbox casing and the front wishbone ripped a hole in the side of that casing. Gutted, the parts are like hens teeth.
so I figured a nice billet alu set would be nice, but I dont have a my own vertical milling machine so I was wondering what the online places are like where you send your STL/DXF files and they send you the part - does anyone have first hand experience of them?
Unlikely I know, but worth a try
Most small places will be able to do it for £30-£40 an hour & the CAD work is usually the most time consuming so if you can do the DXF stuff yourself then you'll be paying for just set up & machining only.
I've done it a few times with a company that cuts complex shapes out of stainless with a laser CNC machine.
What about some SLS parts...?
Have them made in a 30% glass filled nylon & they should be pretty strong.
Failing that a 5-axis machinists should be able to mfr from a 3d file.
We use a company called ARRK who are very good.
