I’ve been looking at a few things for a while now and really like the Civic as a car. Problem is they’ve just deleted towbar options across the range and the model I like has a glass roof that makes roof carriers strictly forbidden. Looking at it the hatch lid is probably out too.

Inside looks like it will definitely take a MTB easily with wheel off and possibly even wheel on, although I’m not convinced (I’ve seen road bikes in complete).

Anyone?

You mean you can't get an aftermarket towbar?

Seasucker an option?

Aftermarket may be possible but as Honda just deleted the OE item I’d want to do a bit more digging as to why that happened before letting someone put an aftermarket one on... not really keen on the seasuckers. Obviously they work but I don’t think I’d trust them.

Really it was more a ‘if a car could only accommodate bikes inside with seats down would that be ok or walk away?’ thread. Next choice has no such problem and is also a fine car, but I like the Honda more apart from the bike aspect...

The type r and civic sport couldn't take a tow bar from launch.

The other civics had wiring for a tow bar at launch.

Have you tried asking at a dealership? If the sales team don't know, the parts guys might be able to help you.

I tried the type r and sport after 3 years in a previous shape civic tourer. They were brilliant to drive 🙂

The tourer was ace for 60,000 miles and 3 years. 0 problems and 62 mpg for me 🙂

Mine has a glass roof, and takes atera signo bars, even though it says non glass roof on the website.

I'd use seasuckers or the other ones (roofbros or summit like that?) No probs btw.

Anyone who says a full bike with wheels still on fits inside a civic has a very small bike.

Fair dos. I’ve seen photos of whole bikes in the back but obvs without knowing size of bike it’s maybe not helpful.

@Nobeerinthefridge, Good to know roof is possible even if officially a no no. Is there anything particularly special about the stated model or was it just the product you chose?

I did ask at the dealer. Apparently there’s been a bulletin round about it over the last week but everyone is hazy about it. I know back end of last week the website was warning not to use the 12v on the towbar but this week it’s no longer a pickable option. Putting two and two together I was guessing an electrical fault had come to light and may be rectified and option reissued. The issue as related by the salesperson from the technicians was a problem with WLTP which I thought sounded wrong but having just googled may actually be correct- apparently options which could increase emissions in use are starting to be clamped down on...

I know the problem with SeaSuckers is in my head not with the product but that doesn’t help! 😂
