Still using economy 7 even tho we have no storage heaters but it does seem to be of benefit.
Looking like Scottish Power is cheapest at the moment, am I missing any other possible deals?
Must add that I'm not interested in using any "super green" company that uses thousands of hamsters on a treadmill etc to generate power, I just want the cheapest.

Nice one, used the enegy club link for the same Scottish Power deal but got an extra 25 quid cashback that uswitch weren't offering. Based on this year's usage I will only be 15 quid worse off so that' not bad considering recent price rises.
Scottish power are a steaming pile of turd in my experience! Avoid at all costs.
Just changed mine from Scottish power. def not the cheapest for me. apparently saving £350. can' remember the company...whatever was cheapest on mse (not the out fox the market one as I couldn' work out if it would save me money or not)
Just moved to Pure Planet Energy, pay up front so just gotta hope they don't go bust.
Everything is done through an app on your phone.
Behind a paywall, but I read this in the Times on Saturday (old fashioned paper version) - be careful with small suppliers - especially those where you pay up front!...

The cheapest will depend on where you live. But these are the cheapest (and green too!) that I know about.
The link gives both of us a £50 credit if you use it.
I did check last month and they were cheaper (but not by much) than the cheapest MSE deal, and a shed load cheaper than EDF etc.

Bulb were on the list that populated via the mse link. I've literally broke everything down and done a full costing using both my gas and day and night readings for the last year and then checked against all of them. The Scottish power website is very easy to navigate and change things on so that is part of the reason I'm staying with them.
We used the MSE energy club and went with Octopus green tariff. Not the cheapest overall but significantly less than the big players. Billing is so much simpler than with Scottish Power who we had before.
We've been with Ecotricity for the last couple of years. What I did like is that there is no messing about with different tariffs and fixes and special offers. There's a price, and that's it.
However, switching to Bulb who claim they'll reduce our bill by 25% (based on our actual usage). Seems too good to be true.
ours is now oneselect.
I'm with Engie FWIW, I prefer fixing long term as it's rarely let me down. Was with EDF beforehand.
Apparent for economy 7 to work out as beneficial you need to be using about a third of your electricity overnight. With a young family (lights on etc) we use about ten percent overnight.
Been through this loads with various suppliers as we have an economy 7 meter but want flat rate tariffs!
Ask your supplier what your day /night usage split is and then get them to tell you if the economy 7 tariff is best for you, and if not make them backdate their billing to flat rate and take the refund!
Just looking into this for my office using moneysupermarket. Scottish Power are apparently the cheapest for me - 13.7p per kWh on the day rate. Not sure if that’s any good?
As I understand it, the comparison sites are obliged to show you all suppliers and all tariffs (provided you click the "show me tariffs that you can't switch me to" button), so provided you give them accurate data on your usage it should find the best deal. Cost depends on both your postcode and your usage, as obviously higher usage favours a higher standing charge and lower per unit cost.
Having used the comparison sites, you can sometimes get the kickback that usually goes to the comparison site by buying via quidco or the like (I realise this is like trying on in a bricks+mortar shop then buying cheaper online, but my moral compass is strangely relaxed in this case).
Most companies do "introductory pricing" i.e. a cheap initial period (often fixed) followed by a more expensive variable rate so you have to keep switching, but some do not. I'm just switching to Bulb who were only a few quid more expensive for me than suppliers offering discounted rates.
Switching to Scottish Power is always false economy, no matter how cheap the rate and how little you value your time 🙂 The £100 or so compo you'll get after taking them to the ombudsman doesn't cover the hassle. There's a reason why in the past they've been suspended from selling to new customers.
I genuinely don't see the problem with Scottish power, or npower who supplied me previously. What is it that people can't manage about energy supply? Ive gone through every possible calc and Scottish power were the best for me on economy 7.
My problems with npower started with them failing to set me up on the agreed tariff and went downhill from there. Basically energy supply is just an administration task that really shouldn't be that hard, but npower and Scottish Power can't even manage that most simple of tasks.
I swap suppliers every year to the cheapest one that will give me a flat rate tariff with my economy 7 meter. Not had any issue with small suppliers yet. Big suppliers are another matter!
Have a look at OVO , they provide a smart meter and pay 3% when u are in credit, good website and IOS apps.
Even if £200 cheaper would never touch n power again. Useless. Absolutely useless... The bt of the power world. Too many issues to list.
British gas OK but expensive
Eon were good whilst I was with them.... Switched to ovo and pretty happy.
Now with the money saving energy club and on some random organic economy fuel plan made from seaweed and goat farts.
Check out reviews of suppliers is all i will say.... Cheapest is most definately not the best.
Scottish power screwed our billing up loads. Then couldn't explain how they had calculated the figures. Wasted so much time with their inept customer services. I think they even caused delays or screwed up when we ditched them.
One of the new smaller suppliers is down stairs in the office block I work in. Tempted to try them on the grounds I pretty much got direct access if there's any issues.
NEVER EVER USE SCOTTISH POWER.
I must just get lucky then. 3 years previously with n power than last year with Scottish power and zero issues. I overpay purposely on my direct debit due to the dirty sex pool in the garden and then if it gets a lot of hammer we're covered, i also overpay as a sort of savings scheme, claimed 680 quid back today with a few clicks on the website.
Also I wanted further info on exact tariff rates and current standing charges and the girl I spoke to today who was doing a call back to save me from holding was possibly one of the best call centre folks I've spoken to, precise, clear information, and really helpful.
Oh and as a note, I don' believe you can get smart meters for eco 7 just yet?
