Anybody else been competing in the xc this season? Did the 2nd round of the Red Rose League today at Blackburn. Cross country is pretty much pure misery. Really hard work, nowhere to hide, non-stop effort for 10k. I'm not entirely sure why I really enjoy doing it! I nearly parked my guts on 2nd lap too (was out on the pop last night).

oddly enough i've just done the Brutal 10 at woolmer today. I hate running, but seem to be ok at it. The Brutal series is "intersting" read very wet, and certainly helps keep the boredom away.. did i mention it was wet??? swimming wet... with mud... and.....

Never.done one but I really should. I expect it to be like cyclocross racing at the higher level where your spat out the back from the start.

Used to do it when I was younger & enjoyed it more than track. Hard work though. We used to do lots of hill training, which really helped come race season.

'Race season'? You mean there's a time when there's no racing on? 😉 Fell races all year round!

Our local league has it's first race race next weekend, so I'm looking forward to the ritual humiliation of it.
Met league had it's first race today, but decided that one is way too much like hard work!
