Is anyone following the England - SA game.

If we can't win it from here there's summit up!

Great bowling / fielding from England...

Cheers

the England cricket team a have a long and noble tradition of stealing defeat from the jaws of victory...that said even this looks like it would take a supreme effort of ineptitude

and a run out so that is 7 down now

Starts texting s African friends ...sod it time to gloat now 😀

I can't watch it in the office, but from the figures it looks like Jimmy and Tredwell are on it.

Pitch/conditions contributing to the low score?

76 / 7 - agree junkyard. it would take a startling batting display to f*** this one up. But then as you say - defeat from the jaws of etc!

Cheers

Boom, baby!

Seven down.

Edit: too late. Projections for final SA score anyone? I'll go for 118 due to pesky tailender beltage.

great bowling vs average bating on a helpful pitch.

Tredwell is a better one day bowler thn swann at present.

I'm going for 133 a/o and us to win by 5 wickets

Enter pesky tailender beltage.

Still sticking to my 118.

How are we feeling about 133/8 then?

Don't like the look of this partnership. If S.A can nudge towards 170+ it gives them something to bowl at and anything can happen if we lose a few early?

I can't help feeling the best thing for England would have been to get knocked out in the group stages and spend more time getting ready for the Ashes.

I can't see the value in playing a load of mickey mouse 50 over stuff when a home Ashes series is only a few weeks away.

50 over international cricket is now just a contrived imitation of the real thing - and that 'real thing' is not T20 either!

Good for confidence and form though.

Well this is embarrassing. England reverting to type a bit by failing to keep the pressure up on the lower order.

Confidence and form for some of the batters maybe, but for the bowlers I am not so sure.

Kleinveldt clearly reading the wrong plot outline there. 👿

I once saw Sir Viv Richards score a century against St. Austell and then deliberately sky the ball to get out gracefully.

Not as good a cricketing story as yours maybe, but I liked it. 🙂

Interestingly(?) England have been scoring at about the same rate as SA - they just have a load more overs in which to get to the target.

Nice sensible play by them all day I think - mature batting knowing time is on their side.

Good job all round...

Cheers
