You don't need to be an 'investor' to invest in Singletrack: 6 days left: 95% of target - Find out more
Anyone watching/ listening to the cricket? Thoughts on the day's play so far? Predictions for the remainder of the match?
Personally, not enforcing the follow-on seems like a gamble, and England look - as ever under Cook - like they're playing it too safe in continuing to bat
Harsh, there's still 4 and a half sessions to play. Give it 30 more runs and then declare.
Given that Anderson & Broad hardly needed to have a rest, can only assume that Cook was concerned about a deteriorating pitch to knock up any shortfall on day 5.
Crack on and get a lead of 450-500 by tea. Make sure Anderson and Broad have a go before close of play. 4 sessions to bowl them out.
Agree to bat again but they need to be scoring faster to declare sooner
They don't need to bat any more, England are only a few behind the highest International 4th innings run chase ever reached. Declare now and give the bowlers a decent stretch before tea.

Ok now I reckon they should be declaring...
Maybe they've decided on 450 and are sticking to that...for some reason.
Ooh, here we go. Early tea?
Root's gone and they've declared.

And Cookie is 70 runs closer to overhauling Alec Stewart's 8,463 test run total.
2 early wickets, 29-2.
Going to have to be a heck of a rearguard action from Dhoni here...
3 more wickets taken this morning, leaving 3 more to be bagged for the win. Good turn around this!

Jordan's on handed catch yesterday was suepurbe. Just one wicket to go!
WIN
Before lunch too! Good work that man Moeen, 6 wicket innings.
Roll on Old Trafford.

Amazing how a decent first innings total can allow you to dictate terms. All of a sudden Cook's captaincy looks great, but really that is a result of having runs on the board and more to play with. I don't think he will ever be a brilliant skipper, but he's the best we have got and is doing his best.
Our seam bowling still worries me. Anderson will be a big miss if the Indians succeed in stitching him up, but it's his own fault for acting like a petulant kid, really.
I don't know who has been coaching Jordan and Stokes but they both have fairly simple problems to cure. Jordan needs to attack the crease 5% more to avoid falling away too much and pushing the ball 'out of the side door'. Stokes (although he didn't play this game) is now releasing the ball from past the vertical, which makes it very difficult to hit the pitch hard. Woakes still looks like a pumped up middleweight.
Still roll on Old Trafford. In cricket terms a really good strip. Hard and bouncy to start with, giving way to a bit of turn later on.
