Some fraudster tried to use my Credit Card to buy £950 of stuff on selfridges.com yesterday. Luckily, it was flagged & Barclaycard phoned me & cancelled the card.
Now, the only time my card has been used for at least 4 months was last week...by our very own Singletrackworld.com to renew my Premier sub.
Coincidence ? 😉

Probably not but chances are it's your computer that's running spyware etc. rather than Singletrack's CC DB being compromised.

My sub auto-renewed by the way, didnt have to enter any details. Number must have been held somewhere by stw.
I cant imagine £957 buys a lot at selfridges. 🙂

Some clarification..

We don't store any credit card details here at STW. This is a deliberate policy. We don't even get to see any credit card details. We use Paypal, Spreedly and Worldpay to process credit cards for us on your behalf. When you buy anything from our shop or sign up to a Premier sub you are taken off our site and to one of those credit card processing companies in order to debit your card. We get sent a notification email once that has been successful. That's as close as we get to your credit card details.

If you are a premier subscriber your card details are stored by the processing company and your card is debited on the anniversary of your subscription unless you switch it off in your premier sub account settings. But again we don;t see your card details.

Hope that clarifies the situation 🙂

I had a about £4k taken from a card I hadn't used for about 9 months.

The bank said that fraudsters will often use card details well after they obtained the info...this is to hide where it came from.

If they used it immediately it would allow police to easily work out who skimmed the info.

Either that or your card details were on a list that some criminal bought off the internet.

One thing banks and card companies seem quite good at these days is sorting out card fraud quite quickly. (Now awaiting anocdotes to the contrary, but generally I think they are).

My ex boss has been done over 6 times in the past 2 years for about 5k. He's changed cards several times, had his spyware etc changed twice and is still getting done very now and again. The only connection is Tesco.

If you stick the credit card details on here I'll do a check in the office here, Nigerian office hours are a bit different from the UK. Are you being OK with this?
