There was a fabulous one on here a while ago involving a stuffed tiger and some satin sheets. That was fun. 🙂

Where's the one of the young lady in tight white shorts when you need it?

Lean it up against a stile or photoshop the background into B+W.

Works for most round here 😛

Turn it upside down so that it appears to be sitting on the sky, another good one.

Dress it up in your wife's lacey panties? Not seen that before I don't think.

Take it into Halfords, and photograph it with a price label on that says "£299 0% finance available".

Obviously this is only amusing if your bike cost at least £500.

El Cargonista on Flickr has worked hard to popularise self-timer pictures of people leaping over their bikes, but I suspect this only really works with cargos. 🙂

Sheldon seems to have a bit of an eye for looking at things from different perspectives- have a look at his site for some inspiration

Park the front wheel in a naked girl's bum crack. It's Friday after all.

I liked the chap who had a copy of Razzle and some empty tins lying around in his picture too.

I experimented with taking my bike to proper industrial places, park the bike in front of it and get some arty shots. Then at home I would lightroom to the extreme, exposure down, recovery and fill light up, contrast up.

It gives a nice effect but lots of hassle.

Try going for high contrast backgrounds. If you bike is black, find something big and white.

some examples of mine (I like these but they're probably not that good)....

All a bit static though.

It's hard to tell which has been treated worse there, the bike or the sofa! 😉

The Team Sky launch shots of their bikes were good but I can't find a link the photo archive anywhere. It kind of went the opposite way to samuri's pics - black on black, artistic blur etc.

Prop up with a stick and photoshop the stick out, background is non distracting..

[img] [/img]

Close up, shallow depth of field?

[img] [/img]

Find a prop, a unique angle, crazy wide lenses?

[img] [/img]

Wide angle but close up?

[img] [/img]

Crop closer?

Samuri: that Pompino photo is mint, if that was mine I'd probably print, mount and hang that effort!

Samuri's first one is very nice - not sure about the others. I don't like the Team Sky ones personally.

Yeti Guy on here took some pretty nice ones I think.

No pics to support this, but I'd like an image of:

White room/floor (infinity style background maybe)

Well ridden/muddy bike, tyre treads across immaculate white floor to show the bike itself, bits of mud & crap on floor underneath bike.

Not sure if I've seen something similar as part of a manufacturers advertsing campaign, apologies if it is not an original idea.

No, not like that - that's a dull picture of a nondescript bike leaning on a pile of rocks and it's in the granny ring - pic of bike in granny ring looks rubbish.
smauri's white on-one and GaryLake's wide angle E120 are the best so far.

I've done the close-ups thing.

Close ups was one way to make my Solitude look okay.

I've stood chickens on my bike too. And I have one with a cow licking the saddle.

I remember someone sticking a notice on the fence to look at the bike not the fence.
