I was supposed to be riding at Cannock Chase today. I'm not 🙁

It's my own fault... here's how it happened.

Yesterday afternoon I was getting rid of some old wood from the garden. It was an old joist that I had been using and I thought it was pretty rotten. I took it out to the car so I could take it to the tip. It was too long to go in the car with the seats up and I couldn't be bothered to drop the seat. So I propped the wood against a nearby lamp post and stomped on it to break it - it was rotten or so I thought 👿

The wood didn't break but my ankle immediately hurt, really badly and I hopped around for a few minutes until it went away. We went to the tip, did a bit of shopping and got home about 3 hours later. I'd forgotten about my ankle by this point.

At around 7pm I went to get up from my chair and ooooooooowwwwwwww my xxxxxxx ankle - I couldn't put my weight on it and it wouldn't flex without pain. I gave it a couple of hours but it didn't get any better.

At about 9:15pm I text my mate to tell him I wouldn't be riding with him today. I hobbled to bed with a sore ankle and just hoped it wasn't broken.

It was better when I got up but still too painful to walk on properly and definitely too bad to ride The Monkey.

So I'm sat at home with a sore, but recovering, ankle and the Sun has just come out here and it looks like a great day to be riding my bike - b#ll#cks! 👿 👿

I did that with a bit of 16mm timber the other day and smacked myself on the head with it.

How, I'm still unsure.

Various bits of wood are always reminding me I'm weaker than I think.

Sounds like the pain is originating from the swelling. Get that down and you should begin to be feeling a lot better

Good treatments for inflammation include ibuorofen and contrast bathing

And that's one of the reasons I don't break any timber up by stamping on it.

One of my mates got a black eye from using that technique, could of been worse really.

STW has been keeping me company today so Thank You for your replies 😀

It's much better now; I can weight bear again, it's almost back to full flexibility and I'm now worried about looking like a fraud to my mate when I see him at work tomorrow 🙄

You wouldn't have liked it at Cannock today. Weather was to warm and bright and the trails were not to wet or to dry, plus ontop of all that they had to have a blooming demo day.

Thankfully i never wear heels so my ankles never come a cropper. Hope your mate understands

Well,

I spent part of today standing on the M1 sliproad hard shoulder as the car died.

Ironically we were on the way to replace it with a new one.

Watching lorries nearly rear end it was a horrible experience, still, git the new car after a mate rescued us.

Was nice at Cannock today - the bike got dusty and not muddy! Made a change from every ride since January!

Sorry OP, I know it's not helpful!

If you can't bear weight on the leg - I would definately go to A&E and get an x-ray.

Suffering now as the bruise on my belly from snapping the bike computer off the bars is at the exact height of my desk. Whenever I lean forward - Ow!

Also £104 for a new computer* + £?? for the mounting bracket is making the temporary zip tie solution look a little more permanent than I first thought.

*It is an electric assist bike and won't work without the computer
