Grrrr, need to replace it.
So like for like isn't a problem, will cost me 30 quid for a new screen and it'll be easy enough to do.
But since I'm replacing it, is it possible to upgrade the screen while I'm at it?
Like for like is this screen:
What do I need to know if I want to upgrade to a proper 1080 screen? and perhaps even touch screen? Is it possible on this laptop?
laptop model = HP-PAVILION-15-P189NA
Any thoughts appreciated?
I'd check an hp forum but IIRC it should be easily doable. The main thing is whether the plug is the same but can't imagine why they would be different given the mainboards are mass manufactured for different models.
I don't think there's a definitive catch-all answer to this beyond "possibly." If your specific model came with that screen as an option then the odds are more in your favour, but so much about laptops is horribly bespoke that it's hard to be sure.
It could be physically / electrically different; it could be that the uprated screen is normally paired with an uprated graphics adapter so would run sub-optimally or not at all; there could be any number of other weird quirks; or it could work perfectly.
As SK said, I'd either trawl the HP forums to see if anyone else has done it, of for the sake of £30 possibly even just take a punt.
cheers I'll head over to the HP. aye cougar, my instinct is there could be issues, why dont just want to jump in, no sure how much a hd screen is plus any other bits I might need.
