Dropped my (new) ipad last night onto to garage floor, taking pictures of the new bike 🙄

bought from tescos, within warranty, what are my options?

Ive seen the vids on youtube for screen replacement, but not sure where to source a screen?

this place charges £100 for screen replacement: http://www.apple-iphone-repair.co.uk/iPad-repair/iPad-3-Repairs

its not really bad, and it still works fine, its just one corner has a few fractures, and a few smaller ones on another corner.

I cant tell whether its just the external glass screen or the LCD, but think its just the external glass.

I have heard you can purchase the apple care protection plan for £69, which you can do in first year..they dont know when i dropped it right? Shhhhh. ...then not sure if they give you a replacment or charge less for screen replacement? Not sure what apple would charge for screen replacement in the 1st place? i have heard they sometime just give you a new one and refurbish yours and sell it on? Dont have an apple store in town, just one of those STORMFRONTS, so going to ask them at lunchtime.

Was also thinking I could just buy one of those screen protectors (the irony) for the time being to stop it geting any worse?

Anyone had a screen replaced on an ipad that can give any advice?

Mrs MM did this at Christmas so we took it to an Apple store but it was irreplaceable as it damaged the inside too. The offered a brand new damage replacement for about £200 (she had the top end 2 with 3g) A common occurrence apparently.

As I understand it it's at the discretion of the Apple store you take it to if it's under a year old. Accidental damage isn't covered by the warranty as written but lots of people seem to get a one-time free replacement.

Mrs MM didn't have the care plan and was within the one year warrenty. The whole unit was knackered though. Hers landed on the corner and wrecked everything.
