[Closed] cracked house window glass (in very old window)

Bit of a long shot this.

We live in an old farm house circa 1760.
I am guessing that some of the windows are original.
They are very thick & (unusually) they are curved.

One of these has a slight chip in it an the bottom - bit like a car windscreen chip.

Any ideas on what I could do with it? Replacement is probably not an option.

Probably best to leave well alone, what ever you do is likely to make it look worse. Even if it gets worse and cracks I'd leave it unless it went into a hole
Plenty of people around still do leaded lights but it will a specialist job if the glass is curved not just the window.

the only reason i would do anything is if i was expecting the chip to 'run' into a crack. if its out of the main sightline in the window, you could try a diy windscreen repair kit. if its in a place that catches your eye i would get a pro in. either option dont forget that anything you do along these lines is irreversible

A bit of putty to protect the crack surface, sealing it from moisture. Has anything changed in the frame to put additional stress on the glass and force a crack to propagate?
Sounds like it is cylinder glass rather than crown glass if it is curved, English Antique Glass could supply something in that style if you are forced to replace.

Sounds like it is cylinder glass

Not doubting your wisdom, but would it not just be unevenly flat rather than curved if it was cylinder glass? I thought that the cylinder was split and then flattened out?

The other possibility is "bulls-eye" glass which may have a very slight curve to it.

It is most definitely curved glass & with no frame at all.
The radius of the curve is about 1m.

The crack is right at the bottom out of the way & fairly small 2cm long.
It was repaired by a previous owner & the crack has grown in recent years.

Might try an automotive screen repair co.
Can't hurt to call.

Thanks all
