Anyone else started watching?
Just finished the first two and I'm quite drawn into it. A weird vibe of Firefly meets Valerian meets 54th Element.
In a good way.
I take it your talking about the new live action one and not the old anime series?
Either way I just finished the new one and despite the terrible acting did mostly enjoy it. Still think it’s got the best theme tune of any program I’ve had the luck to watch.
Watched it ages ago, it's good fun.
Yeah really like it. Similarly I've watched the first two episodes. Will probably watch the original afterwards to see how it compares.
Binged it last week. Really enjoyed it.
What channel?
I thought it was good, but definitely prefer the original.
Thought it was very good and the hammy acting was properly right for it.
The first episode the acting was a little wooden and I wasn't sure but it gets better, enjoyed it by episode 2/3, really good.
Love the 90's/future tech in it too.
A lot of people have been hating on it because it doesn't compare to the original.
However, just because it's not *amazing* doesn't mean it's not good. And it is.
Loved the original btw. 🙂
Netflix I think.
Saw the trailers and really wanted to see it, then re-watched the anime and am preparing to be let down _AND_ impressed.
I'm really enjoying it (especially as we've just watched the episode that introduces Ein).
I watched the original anime series when I was at uni (around 2004-ish) and it's always remained a personal fave. Not sure how it would translate into live action though. Will give the first episode a try but not expecting much.
Would personally have liked to see a new series of Altered Carbon over this.....
I'm enjoying it - as Chevychase said the hard core anime fans absolutely hate it which I'm finding more amusing than the series it self.
Would personally have liked to see a new series of Altered Carbon over this…..
Not sure that woken furies would work as a series - iirc it's pretty much a sifi war novel. The first two are more detective based.
find the writing a bit shit but like the actors and the crapy kung fu action sequences.
I thought it was great. The set design, costumes and actors were not perfect copies of the anime, but they were good, modern live-action translations.
Would have liked to see more of Radical Edward & Ein, but the additional storyline probably took away time from developing those characters.
One of the things I love about it is the genre-melding. Western sci-fi martial arts noir.
Hope it gets a second series.
I actually preferred the live action to the anime. The story makes a lot more sense and actually flows well. The anime has this weird relationship and tension between Vicious and Spike that doesn't quite make sense - and the army on Titan thing just feels like a throwaway story.
Theme music - amazing.
I think it's time we blow this scene.
Get everybody and the stuff together.
Okay three, two, one, let's jam!
Ba da baa da ba da ba da baaaaaaa.
Hang on they've done a live action one?
Yes grandad.
Says 68yr old eddiebaby 😁
Also, just discovered that Netflix has the anime as well. Got that queued up now as well
The original anime was excellent. The new live action is not excellent. I quit halfway through Ep 1.
Loved the original anime, the Movie was OK. Only seen the first episode of the live action version and it seems to have put together by people who loved the anime. Still need to watch the rest of it.
I haven't seen the anime version. I have been finding the live action version to be pretty good. I'll finish the season.
I really enjoyed it.
Watched it over the course of a few days which is quite abnormal to me - usually try and space stuff out. Thought the fight scenes were a done well, almost watched like a comic strip etc.
Plus, the melding of space and vintage is always a winner

Well after discovering it existed a few hours ago I've gotten through the first 3 episodes, it's alright, certainly not the worst live action adaptation of an anime.

I'd watch the anime first, it's on Netflix as well.
I wonder what they'll do next. Anyone else seen Black Lagoon? How about Space Dandy? Don't tell me, both already been adapted as well?
After the few reviews I've read I thought about giving this a miss as I loved the anime. This thread is encouraging though so might give it a shot over Christmas
I'm going to give it a go !
Not heard of the original, but off the back of this thread thought I’d give it a go…
Three episodes in and I’m enjoying it, just the right balance of silliness / inventiveness / story / style
Flying tonight back to UK, already seen first two episodes.
Good so far, downloading more episodes for the flight.
Yes, I think the acting is a bit so-so, but the feel overall is great, Occasional homage to the imagery of the original too.
Anime is legendary, I made a flash animation that got me into an art academy interview round based on its intro..
Netflix took booba out of bebo:(
I wonder what they’ll do next. Anyone else seen Black Lagoon? How about Space Dandy? Don’t tell me, both already been adapted as well?
What about this guy?

Already enough timelines that another won't upset anyone too much.

Surely a large part of Season 2 of the Netflix show included Furies with all the Angelfire stuff? Best thing was the series has suggested that Morgan us thinking about more Kovacs material.
Though personally I'd rather see Thirteen adapted. Followed by market forces.
Having been in the "loved the Anime, thought the live action was better than expected" camp, it's a little disappointing to see this just when it felt everyone involved was getting into their stride...

That's a shame, I'm 3 eps in and starting to really enjoy it
I tried to like it, but the relentless soundtrack and general 'style' just made my head hurt so I binned it off before the end of the first episode.
Well I got to the end last night and I'm gutted that that's all we're getting. It got better as the series went on and I really enjoyed it.
Netflix should've given it more time as I think it'll pick up a following.
Just finished episode 5, i dont watch much TV apart from some sport but im abosoulty gutted this has been binned.
I think it does a very good job of having the same sort of feel that the original had, loving the settings and the music. Everything comes to an end but this didnt even get a chance to get off the ground.
Truely gutted 🙁
