@somafnkndid your consultant say anything about their ms after vaccination? If taking B cell therapy, vaccines are recommended prior to initiation, as your about to nuke your B cells that produce antibody.

I find that immune responses set off my auto immunity, nothing as severe as MS, but I get psoriasis flares and aching joints.

I’m not on anything for my spms apart from sativex for muscle tone, tried to get siponimod last year but it’s not been appraised for use yet and as such there’s no timeframe for release. Hope they get their finger out soon as my lower half is practically useless and my upper half is catching up with it rapidly, can stand up if I pull myself up and lock my knees as far back as I can but need to throw legs from hips to shuffle about house whilst holding on to stuff with both hands. Thankfully I’m slowly recovering from vaccine response but I was as good as a corpse for near enough a week, could barely turn over whilst in bed due to tone and deep aches/pains in every joint. Got movement back in right ankle and very slight movement over right leg but left leg control is gone for good.

Psoriasis is a helluva condition, my mate suffers badly from flare ups all over his body and I see him attempting to act as normal as possible but I know when he’s really suffering, it’s a complete shit that our own immune systems have turned against us eh.

Had mine at 3pm yesterday. Fever of 39.5 within 12 hours and a pretty unpleasant night with non-stop shivering. Temp down to 38.5 with paracetamol. Not particularly looking forward to the next one in 12 weeks.

Exactly the same for me, but I had mine at 12:30 yesterday.

I was feeling pretty good going to bed, then BAM 3am I’m woken shivering like mad because my shoulder is out of the duvet. Mental.

I’ve not felt like this in the morning since that night on the Mitsubishis in 1999!

Still, it’s not nearly as bad as the time I had flu, and I’m already starting to feel better. Not slept since 3am though.

Based on nothing but my wife’s experience and her colleagues, those who had a rough ride the first time didn’t the second and those who had a easy ride the first time had it rough the second.

Had mine on Saturday afternoon (Oxford one).

Fine for Saturday evening but got aches across my upper arms, shoulders and upper back yesterday and felt pretty drained yesterday evening.

Woke up this morning and feel fine now.

Get it done! 🙂

morning update, 14 hours on. A disturbed night, too hot and then too cold but not exactly shivering or burning up (predosed paracetamol as precaution, maybe that had effect?)

This am - splitting headache, like a real Withnail '****er behind the eyes' more paracetamol at 6am, easing now. But like muffin man, aches from middle of back upwards, across shoulders and neck and in all my joints. All of them, even my fingers / knuckles feel achey.

I feel I've maybe got the milder end of it....but maybe it's all about to kick off big style. We'll see.

Got AZ on Saturday afternoon. It hit me like a ton of bricks around 2am. Headaches, chills, nausea, the works. Spent all day in bed yesterday and still feel ropey this morning.

Really hoping the anecdotal "second one isn't so bad" turns out to be true.

Oh and I'm 46, if that counts for anything.

Got the OxAZ late Sunday afternoon.
Got a good nights sleep. But woke feeling tired. Upper left arm pretty achy; rest of body starting also to feel tired (as if done a big ride yesterday). Am feeling slightly spaced out/that jet lag feeling.
50yrs of age.

Stiff leg and an itchy ear.

Not actually had it yet, but reading through some of the replies, it could be said how many are the result of something else and could get mixed in to how you are feeling, given you are expecting results of some sort. Might even be some sort of placebo effect going on too.

So don't worry yourselves into an early grave 😆

I'm 48 hrs in from the AZ vaccine and I feel fine. Decent night's sleep, arm was slept on so so issues with the shoulder, no nightmares which was a shame 😭😂. Been out on the bike this morning.
I wonder if my daily (over) dose of vit D for the past 3 months had helped? By over I mean will within tolerable levels around 1000iu/day.

Update on mine - I had it on Friday at 5pm. Felt out of sorts all day on Saturday - no specific 'thing' to pinpoint, just a general feeling of lethargy and not being quite right. Woke up yesterday morning feeling much better (pretty much back to normal) however my arm still hurts now.

Exactly 3 weeks to the day of having mine and this morning was the first time I've woken feeling vaguely normal, might actually be able to do something productive for a change. Will pop into town later to lick some door handles, put this thing through its paces.

46, got it early Sunday evening.

decent nights sleep. arm doesn't hurt. maybe a little dizziness, but it's difficult to tell as the trees are budding and my sinuses are going mental anyway!

will see how this goes.

what was quite something was having it at the Louisa Jordan. I know the SEC from gigs and events. to see it as a pop up hospital felt like you're wandering through a movie set. It's quite scary to think of what could have been and relating it to what has and is continuing to be (i.e. 125k+ deaths).

Wife (40) had the AZ jab yesterday morning. The chills hit around 4pm, fever of 40 degrees by 8pm! Couple of paracetamol eased it a little. Sweats all night, feels like shes been hit by a train this morning. Temp is down a bit (38.5-39) so hopefully on the mend.

After feeling like death since 3am I’m starting to come out of it. Lifting as quickly as it came.

My advice to anyone is to predose normal run of the mill paracetamol the first night after your jab and keep taking them 2 every 4 hours up to 4 times a day for a day or two and you’ll be reet.

Update.
Spent the afternoon asleep. Totally knackered, bit of a headache, but nothing too bad but kinda dizzy with it.
Seems to be easing now though

another 12 hours on, 24 since jab - a bit warm but not burning up, headache mainly gone, joint pain has not. Most notable in hips and fingers, still have this muscular ache across the upper back. Arm now sore too. Mild nausea every now and then.

In myself though, not exactly ill, but have slept off and on most of the day, and I'm never one for lazing around in bed. So I must be REALLY ill......wife is unconvinced.

As an aside, first day off sick in about 15 years. I was that git that always turned in while sneezing and coughing everywhere. I absolutely will not be doing that when we're back to normal, I think we're all more 'hygienic' now aren't we?

51 - had Oxford AZ jab friday lunch time - went for a 20 mile road ride after wards

Saturday I felt achy all over - like when you have bad flu - no exercise but was working all day long till midnight running a full disaster recovery test for our IT systems at work remotely

Sunday aches that had cleared up went for a 44 mile road ride

Monday - 21 MTB ride - slighly sore arm where injection was but otherwise back to normal

Just want to mention rather vaguely that I specifically saw an article from a respected course ( I remember thinking so at the time.Lol) saying NOT to pre-dose paracetamol before the jab. I'm damned if I can find the info now but the advice was quite emphatic.

Update on my mums friend I mentioned a page back, she got released from hospital Saturday morning and got bloods taken on Sunday, back up to hospital this morning for 2 IV platelets and 2 IV cryoprecipitates to aid in clotting, she’ll need bloods taken regularly and will continue with this treatment for a while yet, her platelet count is slowly rising but still very low and any exertion, even walking from her bedroom to bathroom knocks her for six - still very weak and breathless along with muscle and joint pain like nothing she’s ever experienced (her words) but she’s now on 15ml Oramorph (oral morphine solution) every 4 hours and it seems to be helping.

The consultant was joking with her tday, said she’s his “unicorn find” as after discounting every other medical possibility, that it was an extreme/unfortunate rare immune response to the vaccine, bit of a catch apparently and lots of interest in her case with her bloods being sent to various labs around the country. Her reply was “I’d rather be a ****ing donkey and not been through any of this”.
Retained her sense of humour at least and hopefully when this is all over there is no lasting damage or long term issues as my mum & her plan to do the WHW over 7 days when it’s safe to do so.

Not particularly looking forward to the next one in 12 weeks.

I sort of perversely am, there was something just really satisfying and entertaining about having basically Insane Turbocharged Flu. All of the extremity of experience, without the dragging on. I'm basically turning into the viral masochists from the GCU Arbitrary

Had my Oxford jab at the Louisa Jordan on weds March 3rd.

12 hours of grace (so glad I took the bins out), and then chills, multiplying.

By the morning of the 7th, I was wearing long-johns under my pj bottoms, and four layers on my upper body (including a hooded and a fleecy top!)

By Tuesday, I had changed the bedding and dived into the shower.

Mentally, it was a bit draining.

As well as taking aspirin, I had by accident partially frozen a bottle of fresh orange. My goodness!

I just feel super lucky to have dodged the COVID bullet. If that’s the anti-virus, I’d hate to have bumped into the real thing.

Ha ha, I know what you mean. I went to sleep a little earlier than usual for me last night, woke a little later and slept for 9.5 hours which is unknown for me. Apart from waking once for a pee and being mildly feverish at the I'm 100% today.

Even with a mild cold it's irritating to be still a bit 'off' 3 days later, this is almost like a switch being thrown.

Had mine yesterday. Felt fine for 12 hours then started feeling knackered. Went to bed very cold and with headache, got up this morning and couldn't walk without holding onto something for the first 5 minutes. Now just feel a bit fatigued with a headache, mild flu feeling.

Mrs Routes had her second Pfizer yesterday and has gone down with the same symptoms as first time around - shivering, sore skin, headache, sore eyes, aches, nausea etc. Hoping it's just another day and a half like last time.

36 (no underlying health issues so no idea how I have managed to get mine so soon) - got the AZ vaccine on Sunday afternoon. Fine until I woke up Monday morning feeling like I was recovering from a wild night out. Paracetamol in the morning, lunchtime and evening sorted out the headache. A bit tired during the day but nothing worse. Back to normal this morning (Tuesday).

I had the Oxford-AZ yesterday at 11ish. Didn't feel a thing. Wonderful staff and volunteers at the local vaccine surgery in Elland 👍👍

Slightly sore arm and more tired than usual last night and this morning. Arm still feels a little tired today.

49.5 yrs old, male, beardy & grumpy for the stats guys

PS I really wasn't expecting to be called up for weeks but got a txt at 8 yesterday saying book it. I guess I'm one of the oldest in my cohort

So, just in case any long haulers are interested, it seems anecdotally that we react quite vigorously to the first shot of the vaccine. In my case I was jabbed with AZ on a Sunday morning, had typical flu-like immediate reaction on Monday through to Tuesday then felt pretty good on Wednesday only to then cop a week of what felt very like a greatest hits rendition of a bunch of long haul symptoms I thought I'd seen the back of.

Those have gradually eased off - started last Thursday and today, the Wednesday after I actually feel relatively settled again and my RHR and HRV are both headed in the right direction. There are anecdotal accounts of the vaccine helping to improve the symptoms of long covid markedly, either by wiping out persistent live virus which may be hiding out in the dark, dusty, inaccessible corners of your system - you know, under the sofa and wedged behind the bookshelf. Or it may potentially re-set the immune system and damp down an abnormally activated response. I'd settle for either of those or a bit of both.

This is quite a good explanation of what might be happening. If you do have long haul and get the vaccine, don't be surprised if you get the full tumble drier effect, though bear in mind that some long haulers have had minimal reaction too:

final update from mine from sunday evening...

yesterday was pretty much a write off. very tired, hot and cold, spaced out kinda feeling. eased off a bit mid afternoon and by 8pm when I took the dog out for a walk i felt superhuman. i mean I felt better than pre jab. energised, my sinuses had cleared more than they have for weeks!

Maybe it was the enforced rest that put me right, but today i still feel pretty good even having had a normally average nights sleep.

Had mine yesterday lunchtime, felt fine until 7pm as I was about to get on Zwift for the STW race series...then all hell broke loose. Started with what can be described as explosive diarrhoea, an hour later the shivers kicked in and I was in bed by 8:30pm. Very restless with uncontrollable shaking, at midnight this changed to sweats and no sleep from 3am.

24 hours later and I'm still feeling weak as anything although the flu and diarrhoea seem to have calmed down.
Just feel completely out of it with a sore head. Hoping after a good sleep I should be ok.

Just been invited for mine. Clicked the link and they're basically only offering one day which I can't make. (Work on critical infrastructure) Do more dates open up, or is that one shot all you get? Also, does it make any difference to the symptoms if you've already actually had covid? Most important of all, will I get my sense of smell back?

@onzadog you may be able to log on to the national booking site for alternative dates and centres I think:

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

If you've had covid, you're more likely to get a vigorous reaction. And it is apparently helping some long haulers with symptoms, so it may possible help with any leftovers you have, but right now evidence is anecdotal.

Update on mine
Sunday 4:30pm. AZ
Was very fatigued on Monday. Arm sore.
Tuesday felt better - probably back to 95%. Thought all sorted by evening --- so had a few drinks with dinner
Woke at 0100 after a couple hours sleep, feeling really hot in my body (no fever as such)
Slept on and off.
Today feeling peaky - arm still sore, body temp has been variable. Some slight tingling in my left little finger. Feel 'off'
Hoping to rest tonight

Got mine yesterday morning, 10am. Started to feel a bit of aching around the groin, lower back at 4pm. Mild joint pain right knee & arm 8pm. Started to feel light headed around 9pm, then chill at 10pm. Light nausea.
Went to bed at 11pm, shivering. Up a couple of times for a pee then woke at 7am with a really sore head. Paracetamol & ibuprofen at 8am. Felt muggy all morning but aches were mostly gone by midday and feel fine now.
Overall, worth it
Edit: AZ also

Had mine at 4pm yesterday. Went to bed at 11, awake shivering and aching at 12.30. I took a paracetamol and put a hoodie on and slept until 2, when I woke up too hot.

Was in and out of sleep after that but don’t feel too bad today.

Positive side is that at least I know my body has reacted to the vaccine. 👍

Had my first jab (Pfizer) on Tuesday. Woke up Wednesday with a slightly sore left arm (where they jabbed me) and no other side effects. Left arm aches a little when I move it now, but that's about it. A bit disappointed I stocked up on Paracetamol now, but the other half has her jab tomorrow (likely to be AZ) so it might get used if she's unfortunate.

Had the AZ jag on Wednesday morning. Felt fine for first seven or eight hours, then on Wednesday evening it felt like someone had driven a steamroller over me. Shivering, aching and generally feeling very sorry for myself.

A couple of days on and feeling a bit better, but not much. Might try a very gentle spin on the bike tomorrow.

Mrs Masterdabber and I had our second AZ vaccinations yesterday. Neither of us had reactions or discomfort after the first ones. After the second one I've been lucky enough not to have any reaction at all. Mrs MD had a headache in the early hours of this morning but that seems to have worn off. Both of us have taken it easy today just to play safe.

Yep, still a bit rough 12 days later, but bear in mind that I'm a long hauler and it seems fairly common for us to have a prolonged reaction. Mostly feeling tired and lethargic now, which is oddly unusual for me atm. I'm hoping it's a sign that my immune system is working hard doing something useful for once 🙂

AZ on Sunday.
Monday - felt brain dead, headache and lifeless - like flu with out the illness?
Tuesday - felt OK
Wednesday - legs were sore went out did very gentle 1 hour ride and that was enough.
Thursday - slept badly, more sore muscles back stiff
Friday - feel fine today

All rather odd, flu jab gives me no effects so I really wasn't expecting anything

My wife bollocked me. A trip to the big city for the jab meant an opportunity to buy super market doughnuts. Managed to get 4 into me sitting in the car waiting for my appointment. A tiny, I repeat tiny, bit of custard from the 5th got onto the seat. Well, the fuss.......
Other than that nowt. Didn't even know I had been done. Asked the nurse if my shirt was rolled up high enough and she said "done".

Had the AZ jab Wednesday morning. All fine until 9hrs later when I got a bad headache, hour after that began to ache and shiver like a nudist arctic explorer. Went to bed only to be woken twice in the night by my Garmin watch freaking out as my heart rate was over 120bpm whilst asleep! Thursday morning heart rate back to normal, but still muscle aches, headache & fatigue. Today headache gone, but still pretty tired. That all said I'd happily go through it all again - just hoping the second dose will be easier!

The long term wart on my arm near the jab site has shrunk massively ie by about 75%*. Other than than that, nothing to note.

Had the AZ vaccine thurs 0850. Felt fine for 4 hrs or so, then starterd to get abit squiffy.
Like when ypu have had a single g&t, or tramodol, or pre op drugs or mild recreational drugs.
Then got a lhs headache from around 5pm with a slight pain in the injection site.
Took paracetamol and ibuprofen alternatively every other hour and lots of fluids.
Woke up with stiffness in the old injury areas and kidneys, but tea and breakfast seemed to restore normality.

Hung wallpaper for a good few hours, and apart from the fact i can't hang wallpaper was ok till tea time.

Got cold and shivery so back on the paracetamol ancd hot choc

Apart from 2 rolls of wallpaper being a different tint and ruining the effect i was after, not a bad day, would recommend.

More evidence here that nearly everyone gets unpleasant side effects, which certainly doesn’t tally with the official line. Nor is it something you see with normal vaccines that haven't been rushed out.

Tempting to draw conclusions about how far you can trust the government and big pharma.

After a 10am jab Thursday mrs k had a slight headache yesterday, but by far the worst issue is sleeping on her right side and snoring in my face at night because her arm is sore.

No real side affects for me yet other than becoming a 5G pylon.

Chrispo, I have defended people's right to a different opinion, and to have it debated calmly and rationally. And for those people to also listen and assimilate the other side to their argument. I try to be even handed.

but that's either bollocks or trolling.

1/ In a thread asking people what were their side effects, of course you get more people telling of their side effects. The fact that the majority of people posting here have reported a mild effect is not evidence of a government cover up. If I start a thread entitled 'Who had no side effects from the vaccine' and get a majority of responses saying 'Me' then i assume that will resolve your conspiracy theory shite?

2/ Virtually no-one has reported anything other than a mild immune response to an infection stimulus. I got exactly the same sort of thing last time I had a cold, or the flu vaccine. It's perfectly ****ing normal.

3/ What's the 'official line'? Define 'unpleasant'? Compared to being hospitalized, or dying, I mean? The leaflet in front of me described my symptoms and said they were very common. It's incompetence beyond the level of even of this government if they've blown their cover-up by printing the likely (no, very likely) side effects in a leaflet they gave you with the vaccine.

It's a free country - make your own choice, what you want to do with the vaccine. But stop with the conspiracy shit, it's boring now.

Flu vaccines are very safe. All adult flu vaccines are given by injection into the muscle of the upper arm.

Most side effects are mild and only last for a day or so, such as:

 • slightly raised temperature

 • muscle aches

 • sore arm where the needle went in – this is more likely to happen with the vaccine for people aged 65 and over

The MMR vaccine is very safe. Most side effects are mild and do not last long, such as:

 • the area where the needle goes in looking red, swollen and feeling sore for 2 to 3 days

 • around 7 to 11 days after the injection, babies or young children may feel a bit unwell or develop a high temperature for about 2 or 3 days

Very common side effects (1 in 10) of the whooping cough vaccine include:

 • Headache

 • Fatigue

 • Redness, swelling, or pain at the injection site

 • Joint swelling or pain

 • Fever

 • Chills

 • Lack of energy

 • Nausea

Utter bullshine.

My wife, and lots of others, have said its no worse a reaction than the usual flu jab. Plenty of people on this thread have reported no real effects, and I suspect the thread is a bit self selective and attracts more of those who have had a reaction.

And no one on here has said that they would sooner have taken their chances with Covid.

Chrispo, I try to be even handed

You could usefully try a bit harder 🙂

It's not conspiracy shit, but a perfectly valid observation. It's not scientific, obviously, but I would definitely have expected more "I had none" posts from the rabid anti-conspiracists on here, yet most of you have also had side effects.

Now side effects may be normal and harmless and better than the real thing, but they're not supposed to affect nearly everyone. So it's no wonder that so many people don't trust what they're being told.

As I've said all along, if the government could just be open and honest and truthful...

Three or four times I have sided with you and your right to have an opinion, as long as you listen to what you are told afterwards.

But it has made no difference and so that hasn't worked. So I'm calling it as it is. You either don't want to listen, or you are just trolling. I can't convince you any more.

I defend your right to an opinion. But you now must respect my right to point out that your opinion is worthless, conspiracy theory bollocks.

You mean, I have the right to an opinion as long as I change it to be the same as yours?

Where is the conspiracy? I question the government propaganda and suddenly I’m a conspiracy theorist. If this was Brexit, you’d probably be agreeing with me. Don’t be so blinkered!

If what we've had is "unpleasant", maybe they need to distribute some Growacett with each vaccine.

just had my second pfizer jab yesterday. when i said id had no side-effects other than a slightly sore arm with the first one the nurse said i may feel worse with the second one as that was fairly common. incidentally she said the AZ was usually the opposite, poorly side-effects with the first, then nothing with the second.

im pleased to report nothing so far, just a slightly sore arm, same as the first.

- and 'I had none' posts would be coming from 'rabid anti-conspiracists'

Like said, I give the benefit of the doubt where I can but eventually the evidence mounts.

AZ on Wednesday afternoon, woke at 2am Thursday with aching joints etc, took paracetamol. Woke with joint pain gone, felt very lethargic for two days with a bit of mouth watering going on and a tender arm. Today, feel fine and off to work.

Thursday 14:30 - had AZ vaccine - all good
Friday 03:00 - woke up feeling lethargic and a bit achey, with a mild headache (took a paracetamol)
Friday daytime - as above, but paracetamol certainly helped. By evening symptoms had weakened.
Saturday morning - feel 95% fine - got some aches behind my knees, that's about it.

chrispo - can you highlight what you mean by propaganda by the Government? As far as I can see, numerous independent bodies in different countries have come to similar conclusions regarding the safety and efficacy of AZ and other vaccines.

As a comparison, I had a Hep B jab in December (for work) and the effects were very similar. This is a tried and tested jab, not "rushed out" during the pandemic.

Given that AZ are not making a profit on their vaccine for the duration of the pandemic, I don't understand what your point is.

55, had the AZ jab at 10.30am on thursday. By 10 pm started to feel under the weather with shivers and aches. Woke at 3am with a headache and sweating, took paracetamol. Fine the next morning but injection site still sore to touch today.
All very standard from reading other posts.

1st AZ jab on Tuesday at 9.00 I'm 51.

No side effects at all yet though I did drop a couple of paracetamol to be on the safe side and didn't cycle to work that day.

Cycled most days since and no effects - I'm still as slow as normal and so is my windows PC.......
