So next week the UK move into the tier system again.

Does anyone know off the top of their heads if car sharing is allowed in any of the tiers?

Long story short my car died and will not be getting replaced and most of my riding is a drive away so currently stuck with from the door rides which are pretty flat, none the less still good for fitness i suppose.

We always used to car share but at the moment no-one is sure of the rules around it? currently under lock down im sure we cant but in the new tiers is it allowed in any?

Cheers

England is not the UK.

My wife does the odd covid testing shift most weeks on her day off, generally going to care homes, folks houses that are incapacitated, or with mental health issues etc. Two of them in a NHS car, she sits in the back behind passenger seat, and they both wear masks.

I'd imagine if needs must, this would be your best option.

TBH, given that I had to isolate for 2 weeks after inadvertently having dinner with someone who ended up being asymptomatic, but positive, I'd avoid sharing with someone anyway, as much as a PITA that it. it's less annoying than sitting at home for 2 weeks and consequentially not being able to do other things you were looking forward to doing (such as seeing a girl who lives 500 miles away...).

And, even if it means you're not getting to ride somewhere else, it'll also mean that the person you would be sharing with won't have to sit at home for 2 weeks if you end up infecting them.

TL:DR, corona is a pain in the ass and sadly will impact on how you live your life for a while.

@nobeerinthefridge - yup my bad should have said England however to be pragmatic i ride in tweed valley fairly regular so i suppose would be good to understand restrictions that side of the border.

@hungrymonkey agreed i have also had to isolate for two weeks, you make a valid point that i didn't really consider when posting.

To be honest, I really wouldn't. Car sharing has been a major factor in a large number of outbreaks of COVID-19 across a range of workplaces. I should add this is speaking as someone involved in the response.

@spud cheers for that, yeah i perhaps have overlooked the actual risk whilst just looking for rules, think i will stick with the local cheeky trails for now.

Agree with @spud. My colleague is one of the ventilation experts on SAGE and car sharing is her absolute no-no. She suggests if you really have too, to do so with the windows down and both wear masks. Doesn’t sound that much fun in December!

The outbreak in South Uist was caused by car sharing.

As regards visiting the Tweed Valley trails, don't. Cross border traffic is restricted.

If you have to apparently sitting diagonally opposite each other, one front one back is safer.... I'd probably go with driver in the front 😉 also you're supposed to keep all windows down and wear masks.... should be pleasant in December!

I think you need to lean out the window like a dog too.
