Anyones young kids had covid?
Our 4 year old daughter seems to have it quite bad. Been ill for nearly 2 weeks with a cough, flu-like symptoms, fast breathing, difficulty talking much. Initially put on antibiotics in case they would help but they didn't. Just been back to docs, raised heart rate, low oxygen. Taken straight to hospital for blood tests, x-rays etc.. No previous health issues.
Not confirmed it's covid yet but all symptoms seem very similar, and mum and sister also had similar but recovered.
Just wondering what to expect...

Take each step as it comes, and just be there for your daughter and family.
Try not to think about what it could be/should be.
Sounds like she is now in the right place, and as long as she is being dealt with quickly they should be able to give appropriate treatment.
Our son was in hospital many times from the age of about 1 to 7 with similar symptoms (pre COVID) , it was always a worrying time, just try and support each other
As above - no need to speculate, these things happen and she's getting the right treatment. We had it with one of our girls around the same age, it was horrible at the time having all that worry, concern and access to Google to make up our own diagnosis but it turned out to be 100% absolutely nothing and she's a super-fit 14 yr old now.
Not wanting to disturb you, but there’s been a nasty round of flu down under. We had an early peak this year. My 9 year old was unusually floored. Queensland Gov was so concerned they provided free flu vax for all ages.
COVID usually has had different symptoms in young children that adults. It obviously something but not necessarily COVID
Could be a variety of things - Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) has been doing the rounds as well. The good thing is that she's being monitored closely by the hospital now.
Always horrible to have a kid in hospital, but you're doing all the right things.
fwiw diagnosed as pneumonia, build up of fluid in lungs, lots of antibiotics for her to take! Slightly more relaxed now she's back at home
That's not too bad then - it's generally very treatable in young 'uns. It's what my daughter had (twice). It wasn't very nice to be told on ward at the time that 'it might be cystic fibrosis'. Yeah, thanks for that.
