Sorry, no time to find 'em all on the tube of you, but here's a list of ones I rate:

Hendrix: All Along the Watchtower, Wild Thing, Sgt Peppers, Hey Joe
Quicksilver Messenger Service: Mona
Janis Joplin: Piece of My Heart
Joe Cocker: A Little Help from My Friends
Jane's Addiction: Ripple
RATM: Kick Out The Jams (and that whole covers album actually)
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts: I love Rock'n'Roll
Baby Charles: I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor
Faith No More: War Pigs
Corduroy: Motorhead (and Motorhead's version, given that it was originally a Hawkwind number)
The Clash: I Fought The Law
Tricky: Black Steel
Iggy: Louie Louie (oh yeah, and Motorhead's version of same. And The Kingsmen come to think of it)
Soundgarden: Come Together
Fun Lovin Criminals: Crazy Train
Souxsie and the Banshees: Dear Prudence
The Specials: A Message to You Rudy
Bow Wow Wow: I Want Candy
Soft Cell: Tainted Love
Happy Mondays: Step On
The Black Keys: Have Love Will Travel
Aretha Franklin: Respect
Otis Redding: Satisfaction
Elvis Presley: Blue Suede Shoes, Hound Dog
The Beatles: Twist & Shout
King Curtis: Whiter Shade of Pale

June Tabor and the Oyster Band - Love will tear us apart.

Best version I've ever heard.

I hadn't emsz but I don't think that version quite gives the same 'lived it' tone as the one I posted.

I think her voice is too 'pure' to convey the emotions? Maybe it's just a song that works better with a hint of bitterness?

Pixie Lott has got a pleasant enough voice, but why does she have to put on the speech impediment ("I'm weady now") when she sings? Very pub singer-ish. And all the wailing doesn't help.

Annnyway.
Cos I'm going to see em live 😀

Lissie's Stairway to Heaven is pretty good

Not something most people would try to cover but she makes a pretty good fist of it

In their early days Ash did loads of covers.

This was an early B-Side, you might know it.
