Looking for a piece of furniture to match some existing stuff (which isno longer available new) and found the perfect thing in London on Ebay.

Can anyone recommend a company that does such a service (ie private address to private address) and what would a likely cost be to collect a circa. 30kg solid wood TV cabinet?

Cheers

I'd try Shiply or Anyvan

They both work the same way: put your job details and different couriers bid on the job. Pick whoever gives the best price or whoever you like the look of most.

I put the same job on both for a variety of quotes and the price difference was quite big, can't remember now which was better but it probably varies a lot for different jobs anyway, so irrelevant... Regardless it's worth trying both!

Shiply, we use them a lot. Just had a 3mtr x 1.5mtr oil painting from Town to Harrogate, guess how much..

£36

We’ve always used them came recommended by a furniture restorer we know who’d get delivered, then collected large items of furniture for restoration work.. he has a van but couldn’t afford the time to collect/deliver so ended up using a couple of Shiply guys direct, now we just either go through Shiply or use two blokes we know.

All items have been very very packed and looked after, yes the vans full of random objects you’d expect to crash into each other but the drivers have always been very keen on damage mitigation.

We use them about twice a month, for collect/delivery all over the U.K. sometimes you have to wait for a few days before you get the item(s) due to thier other collection rounds but my word the price more than makes up for it, so too the sizes involved.
